We chose this spot as it was free and had a cycle route alongside the Vienne river.
There are 2 Aires here. This one is by far superior with free water and stunning westerly views as we wait for sunset. These 2 taken from beside the van.
Off in search of our cycle we went downhill to the river and headed upstream on the Vienne. We noticed a couple of KMs of picnic tables and fishing spots and it wasn't until the end we realised this was their plan deau. You could easily daytime park in a motorhome and that was after this railway bridge
We followed railway and cycle path
expecting to see a water mill but no view of it but from the routes of the water you could tell it was there but private property and opposite this gaffe
Views available most of the time now as cycle route deviated from the Vienne to la maulde as this cycle route is the Limoges to lac vassevierre velo so presumably la maulde is fed by the lake. Hills were now causing more electric use !
But then we came to Bujaleuf with a noted beach from mapy.cz
What we weren't expecting was an aire in this desolate village but there was and we reckon you parked in between trees on grass but solid parking also available. Dump was there. So we freewheeled down the hill and thought we were entering the campsite. Oh no. Another free camping car aire right by the beach with beautiful water and facilities and playground.
Take note of the name if passing. Better than vassevierre in our opinion for the aire and that takes some beating if a dip is what you are after
The water here was notably soft. It had the feel of volcanic water which is great to swim in and where we thought we were going.
We changed our minds after the cycle yesterday. Hills or mountains aren't our thing on E bikes so we left in order to leave things to do on our motorbike and will come into this region and treble up with Alps and vercors.
We took the straight way back to town and with it turning warm had a cold beer at the aire
Then a walk round this lovely town was which is bastideish and a starting town for this year's tour de france which is an honour for any town (put de dome finish)
Whilst we were walking round we saw a few things advertising steam railways but they stopped yesterday. Worthy of some research if coming.
The church was unusual and I m not good with styles but I think baroque.
Unusually slim inside it had a different feel to it and some artefacts such as the original pendulum of the big bell (we translated it as such) and a separate room for baptisms and a great door.
Further round some learner hasn't worked out how to park with 4 wheels on the ground yet
Couple more town pics
As the town just kept giving
Then we saw the "place your face in the picture" opportunity with 2 pushbikes.
The skill level involved in setting a timer putting the phone against a lamppost and running to be in the picture should not be underestimated. It caused a few motorists a chuckle and I think it was 4 attempts. NB 3 seconds is not sufficient but is a good game !
Even if you can't see us !
Paula then saw a cave. Might as well have a look. 2.28 a litre for aop red. Not quite time to decant the water bottles yet but not far off it !
Here is the aire. 10 spaces plus over flow plus another aire
But whilst in the cave I saw these 3 wine bottle carrier panniers for 2 euros each. I had to check and that's Xmas sorted for both girls
And the evening sunset from the a yard to the left of the van
