We filled up our 16 litres of drinking water from the Bad Bertrich stell for the sum of 20 cents so added that to our costs.
Again didn't really know where we were heading but followed part of the route towards Daun but hotfooted it from number 24 across to 39. Then up to 36 and cycled to 35. (On the map)
Our first stop was at Pulvemaar. Maar appears to be "volcano lake" and we have been here before. But it's a nice walk round.
We then went through Manderscheid where there are 2 castles with an English graffitied explanation so stopped, supped my coffee from my expensive Costa thermos and took a couple of pics.
Moved on through to Deudesfeld where up popped 2 stellplatzes on the sat nav. Both free. First one is a mixed car park but the second one is motorhomes only, 13 places, leccy for a euro, free water (contribution of euro recommended) with views.
We pulled in for lunch and quickly decided to stay the night.
It was at this point the wife noticed my lack of expensive Costa thermos.
A plan was made to cycle back to Manderscheid to retrieve it. 9.6 Kms. Up hills !
We got there and it was sat patiently waiting for me by a couple of German bikers enjoying the view we had.
We then noticed a via Ferrara and had every intention of doing it til we saw the sweat pouring off one climber ! So photos from the viewing point were decided upon.
The town was quite pleasant and an attraction to motorcyclists.
We think the volcano route is far better on a bike or motorbike than motorhome for seeing things. Lots of paying for car parks,
Cycled through on good radwegs or voie vertes through to our geyser of the day
Wallenborn where 2 euros entry was compensated by beer being 2.20.
We took video of the explosion so no photo of 5-6 minute display every 35 minutes, but motorhome visiting parking right outside. I LL try to do a screen capture.
As if by magic
Nice garden in the way out
Back to meerfelder maar with a natural free swimming garden
But then a berg was spotted at the top of the hill. Began cycling but they were abandoned as our route was for mountain bikes but we walked the rest and well worth it.
Then some random milk churns
