Emmendingen is a "Go to Aire" for us. It was free until Covid and now they charge 7.50 via a machine, but we have never paid so couldnt tell you if it was cash or card as we were there last during covid when they never checked (or if they did come knock on the van you just started coughing til they went away.
what we like about the place is that you know you can get it in. Its a flat car park of tarmac with possibility of parking against grass, there is water and dump and next to the swimming pool. We have probably stayed here 4 or 5 times. There is a lake to the north which is about 5 kms away but you pay for parking and well used. Parking was about 2 euros for a motorbike and I think 4 for a motorhome. Remember that this is Germany so naked sunbathing is extremely regular but there is a textile area. The cycle route is off the road and dedicated and you can go to neighbouring lovely villages and also down to Freiberg which is twinned with Guildford and again if memory serves me right the sunniest place in Germany.
There are a couple of good viewing points within striking distance of Emmendingham for committed walkers, cyclists or motorbikers.
belvedere viewpoints eichbergturm both near ish to emmendingham. Both can be accessed by motorhome. First one 200 metre walk 45 m tower.
Second one kilometre walk 26 m tower
hunersedelturm
Zwerichbachfalle you cant get within abou 5kms with a motor over 3 tonne
E bikes will be required or motorbike.
You can dump motorhome by bridge but its a trek on foot.
From the car park it says 1500 metres and it looks like a slope to start. It gets steep. Not insurmountable but you need a stop at the top then you see waterfall with 4 viewing areas at different levels and you forget about your legs.
You pass an honesty shop with beer at 2 euros pop at 1.50

She got a treat after that walk
