Thunder and lightning last night meant a poor night's sleep and we woke to deer in the field and dark clouds over nearby hills in the Bayern nature park.
But we went on holiday cycling in Belgium in march so grey clouds weren't going to put us off so our Amazon purchased waterproof trousers jackets and gloves came out.
The Dutch and German neighbours looked impressed !
We were originally heading only to Bogen but after a few diversions because they are building a better cycle route we thought we would eat our emergency tinned Chinese herring and crack on a further 12 Kms to Straubing. It was only 1210 hrs so plenty of time.....
....But further detours which were unmarked and just cycling through building sites or roads that were dug up in preparation for tarmaccing didn't help the cause.
We knew we could get free electric in Straubing as there were 4 ladestations and we had cycled into a fair breeze en route so used a lot of battery.
But none could be found, so tourist information located and explained that they advertised 4 ladestations but none available and we had factored this into our journey....she got the hint and charged both up for us whilst we had lunch.
The town was so similar to Deggendorf with same church in same location. This place comes 2nd in beer festival top trumps behind Munich ! August is the answer to your next question !
On the way back to retrieve our batteries we spotted the ladestation so took a photo to show the tourist board lady where it was
A shed load more diversions with incessant scotch mist meant waterproofs were on all day and photo opportunities limited.
Saw 5 lots of deer on way back and a hare up close. (You may have to zoom for the deer but should be 3 of them, one on the right a much lighter colour)
