Just North East of Hasselt is a cycle route where the bridge is inverted so it sinks under the level of the water and you cycle through the lake.
There is an aire which was being built and it looked as though it might cost 10 euros and should be finished at time of writing.
Also there is a lovely arboretum walk that even I enjoyed, and a huge, and I mean huge free playground. The whole area is a massive tourist attraction
