Really really nice FP site that deserves a mention all by itself. Family run and of course the wine is nice, mainly rose as per the area and the different wines are named after the children. We normally buy a bottle of wine but we went back and bought half a dozen at 4 euros a pop which is well...

Both great places, which to be fair, pretty much most of Provence is. The marble type floor photos are St Remy and Beaux is a Beaux village on a hill (Sort of Bastide type) but parking was expensive and halfway up the hill. They did a light show at night but we didnt return.

Its a trek up here but worth it. Aire in the car park is to be ignored and go along the road a bit and park up in the picnic area where you have a view of the Med from your window overlooking Antibes peninsula and just below you are the gorges do loup which you need to either come up or go down...

Our base for this one was St Laurent du Var just west of Nice, a free aire against the side of the road but only 7 spaces and you might have to be lucky as oversubscribed so have a B plan or get there early. We got to Monaco 3 days after the Grand Prix and it is so right to have a nice meal at...
Did a few motorbike rides around here, from Pugets we went up to Entrevaux then passed it to the D2202 and up past Daluis. Be careful on the bike as road surface was a tad slippy, take 10kph off until happy. Then the views just open up and it is motorbike city with loads of big tourers and...

Great base for exploring some balcony roads and clues and gorges nearby on back roads where you might not see anyone for an hour and yet Nice is an hour away. It is hilly when out of the Var valley and you can mudbath in places as the river isnt the cleanest looking either. Steam train comes...

Possible to drive through here in a motorhome, what is not recommended is doing it at night in fog like we did on the first occasion. Luckily I got tired and we just pulled over, not giving a monkeys where we were and just parked for the night expecting a bollocking from someone in the morning...
You will only be able to get so far in a motorhome. You will need to check. Videos on youtube are available of the road this one is ours there are better ones but it gives you an idea of the width and height available on the road. The bridge area is the only place you are likely to meet anyone...

We have been here twice before, once via a plane when the only way we could afford a holiday (pre motorhome) was to sit up and wait for the easyjet sale on dial up broadband and we got 4 return tickets to Geneva for £100 and I was prepared to pay for the kids to go up in the cable car, but it...

Wow, just wow. All the waterfalls were at least 500 foot drop. It is a horseshoe canyon and it is a trek but what a lovely trek that reminds you of Iceland with heat (we have never been to Iceland!) There is an aire with parking for which you have topay to park but it is worth it. However we...
A pay to walk up the gorges day out. It was single figures each and pleased we went on the walkways over the rushing water, should have stayed and had a dip at the top end. We moved onto Rumilly with a lake and car park but too many miscreant youths in cars to make us feel happy overnight so...
One of several cascades we have visited over the years, but one with a special mention as there was nobody else there and it was stunning. Off the beaten track and not well advertised it was a little trek up there but so worth it. We went there on the motorbike from either Seyssel or Serrieres...
Perfectly possible to go down to the bottom of this massive crater with a road going round it and beautiful water source at the bottom with walk round. We went on the bike. Give the brakes a brake on the way down. NOt sure the photos here do the place justice Report Edit Delete
Really Beautiful little village which is just loads of restaurants and bars set against a road adjacent to a lovely canal with boats going up and down to reach Lac du Bourget. Our daughter "borrowed" the van one year and we flew home so they could have a holiday and when we all in France for...
Motorbike job this one ! Its not just a mountain its a Tour De France Bastille day finish mountain and makes a regular appearance in Le Tour. We attacked it from Seyssel via some back roads. There is a cafe and gift shop at the top and the views are apparent from the photos
Free parking at the Vigneron de Saint Pierre slightly south west of the town. Its an FP site but they didnt check and they didnt care. I think we just had to leave our reg number there, I also saw vans staying longer than the 2 days we were there. Absolute heaven for cycling and wonderful...
A Beaux village and a half I noted the temperature dropped to 26c when we were there and that was midnight ! It was a free aire when we went but if you want to go its going to cost north of a tenner in euro money now to airepark so leccy water etc comes free. Having walked round it during the...

It is that time of year when we go on holiday and I do a journal. I call it a thrournal as I start with a journal and copy it into a thread. Hopefully others will do journals in the upcoming period as well. And the journal map is very helpful for holiday planning. This holiday will be 28 days...

Having done a few journals and one "live" one and listened to the feedback that it is more preferential for most to enjoy a thread with interaction rather than page clicking, I am going to try the Thrournal, a thread and journal and better sounding than a Jouread which might make me sound a bit...

These are the places we have been to previously in Germany with information taken from previously posted material by ourselves.
Latest entry: Glossglockner High Alpine Road,
We havent done a lot of Italy and I am unsure of how many photos we took but created for when we return. We had a friend there and left our van at her place while I flew back for a couple of weeks work
Latest entry: Sundial village near Venice Aiello del Friuli,
I have already posted about these and created a journal, but the journal was created incorrectly and the map part of things didnt work so Jim destroyed them at my request and am slowly but surely adding them up. Apologies if you have seen them before. Belgium not as boring as one has always...

There is a thread of all the disused railway lines we have cycled on our travels on ebikes. If all goes to plan, I just put the link in here on the journal and add the location and there will be a map of where we have cycled created and a link to the photos and the spiel I wrote about them at...

Having done a journal "Languedoc 28 days" It felt inappropriate to put Sully sur la Loire into it. We have about a week left so have created this one for here and we will be between Paris and Dieppe somewhere for next week. Photos guaranteed, cycling highly likely and highly likely on a voie...
