Bad Durkheim

Big field in a park where you want/can attitude in a wine growing town. They have the biggest wine barrel in the world which could hold 1,700,000 litres of wine but actually hosted a restaurant. It would be 100 litres for every person in the town which is on the wine route. It was not a great day and looking to fill up the evening we hunted out our first ever sauna in Germany. It is wise to take your own towel or dressing gown and Germans do sunbathing and saunas in the nude. We went to something like a municipal swimming pool where it was cheaper to enter after 1700 hrs and it had a roof terrace and separate sauna area. I remember about 8 different saunas and an upstairs and downstairs, a hot and cold foot spa, ice showers, indoor and outdoor pool, sauna with a view and we were expecting prices inside to be shocking for beer, they were so cheap we had a meal in there and a couple of beers we sweated out. I think we paid 14 euros for the pair of us for the night. Germans very pleased to practice their ganglais on us. Less photos on this one !
