I won't be popular with any Merc/VW PVC owners for this but...

I know it's subjective, and it might be just me, but this thought struck me today. My neighbour has just converted a Crafter. It's a fine job. We also have some friends with an older Sprinter.

It got me thinking. When a Ducato/Boxer/ Relay pulls onto a site they look like camper vans. When a Sprinter or a Crafter pulls on to site I see a great big van. That regardless of how good the conversion is.

I'm a neutral as we have a coachbuilt.

Is it just me or not?

I was considering an L4H3 boxer for a while. That's also a great big van 😜

I think they all look like big vans

Because they are lol
Haha. Yes I know they are all vans. Maybe it's just that there are far more Ducatos or maybe it like Mikeco says and they just tend to be longer

The sprinter conversions are much more imposing and have much more presence.
We regularly get second (and third) complimentary glances and comments when parked up..... even from fiat owners.

Ps: At 5.93m we are a lot shorter than many.

That’s because the ones you see will be 7 metre LWB ones, the Sprinter/Crafter MWB are less than 6 metres.

You could be right. Saying that though even the 6m ones look more like vans though and never seem to look like campervans the way a ducato does.

the sprinters are rear wheel drive and internal floor height is higher than the ducato making it overall higher

Can’t agree. At least not with my dark blue La Strada Regent S.

It oozes class, is not as boxy as a ducato based van and is most obviously a nicely designed Camper van.

Seeing your Avatar, perhaps it's those dark glasses, they are made to give a cyclist perspective?? Should have gone to SpecSavers!

Just to be clear. I don't dislike the look of the sprinters as vans. It's just they don't look like campervans.
