Device wont connect to Free. Suspect I need access credentials and APN.
So I connect to device's web server with admin password as per internal label and I can get to this 'settings' page. But I can't edit the settings ...
Changing auto/manual connection mode has no effect.
Failed to find anything online other than the derisory qs leaflet

How do I input an apn??

couple of pointers/guesses
are you defo logged in with main admin privileges

Is the device apn locked by your carrier sometimes This is done to ensure users connect to their network and avoid compatibility issues.

Can you connect it to a pc and see if it needs updates ?
is there a different settings menu, if you tap the 3 dots or go back

Go into the APN settings and add for your network then add that to the connection and then connect

1. Device was sold as unlocked (If it were locked, wouldn't it be showing an APN on the screenshot?)
2. The only info I have is the "device manager website", 192.168.0.1, and a password for it.
3. PC (or Macbook, in my case) I will try when I have a decent connection, it's not so good atm

4. The screenshot is, as far as I can tell, the APN settings page unless somone knows different ??

Sussed, I think.

I connected to the ZTE's webserver with my android phone; this doesn't give full functionality. I'll use the macbook and report back.

So at the bottom of the ZTE's initial config page there's a "PC/Mobile" selection offered, which had defaulted to mobile.
I hadn't twigged this. Connected via Macbook and got this page, from which all seems to be possible. Set APN to 'free' and now have a 5G connection feeding our hungry phones ...

It's pissing down here, Le Puy en Valay, so not trying the Poynting aerial atm

I had the same issue with my ZTE MF286D, I couldn't access much from my tablet, I had to use my laptop.

I will be interested in a report of how it works, interesting that the cheaper ones are good condition.

planning one…
Thinking of getting an mu5001, van is mostly in remote Scotland, so some 4g options are helpful.
Does the admin page give access to functions such as selecting which 4g bands to exclude/include etc? Nigel Crompton i can see from your screenshot it looks like you can turn off 5g, but wondered if there is more functionality than that?
Does it tell you which cell tower you are connected to? How much difference does your antenna make?
Thanks - Ian
