We have just ordered a Chausson motorhome and thought that insuring it would be straight forward.
insuring for me and my wife isn’t a problem, but we would like our 23 year old son as a named driver.
Adrian Flux would insure it in his name but not as a name driver until he is 25.
I have tried every other insurer I can think of. Does anyone know of an insurer who will cover under 25’s please?

Welcome

Good luck with the insurance, costs a fortune for someone that age to insure a car 😳

His car insurance is less than £300 per year, so I thought it would be easy!
Yep, but it’s a little different from driving a small car to driving a small block of flats,,👍

On a different take, is there really any need for you son to drive it?

It’s for the family to use his brother has been driving HGV’s since he was 23, so I didn’t really think about it. I just assumed we would be able to insure him. He doesn’t have to drive it, he’s 25 next year but we would like him to be able to. He hired one in New Zealand so has driven one before. If he can’t he just won’t be able to use it for 18 months, just seems a shame.

If you're still reading even though you can't reply ......
If the van is over 3500kg gross weight your son can't drive it anyway unless he's taken a separate driving test.

Blimey I’m amazed 😳
One daughter is 22 and her insurance on a 2013 Fiesta Zetec is £214 fully comp.
Other daughter is 19 and her insurance is £631on a 2016 Fiesta Zetec eco-boost fully comp.
The above insurance is on a multi car policy with my wife’s.
I cannot insure my car on this because my mine is specialist ins.

The 22yr old keeps asking to go on the Motorhome Insurance. I keep telling her she needs to be 25. I with show her this thread.

On a previous thread you indicated your motorhome was 3.5t but you were thinking to upgrade to 3.75t. if you did that your son/ daughter, if they don't have a C1 on thier Licence wouldn't be able to drive it anyway.

Thats exactly right. That’s another reason I intend to uprate to stop her asking.
She’s got all sorts of trips (ideas) planned for her and her boyfriend, I don’t know when I would get to use it.
End of the day it’s just not going to happen so she can ask as much as she likes.

I had to admit defeat, nobody would insure him until he is 25.
NFU would have if he was an exisiting customer (he isn’t) Adrian Flux would if he was the main driver.

he will just have to wait 18 months.

Not related to motorhomes but we tried putting our 34 year old son on the insurance for the Polo for driving lessons. It would have cost us nearly £300 a year. He could probably insured a car in his own name for less.

If my teenage son is going to borrow my MH by the time he's 25 he's got alot of growing up to do!!
🤣🤔🤔🤣🤔

Have to admit that the son is a far better driver than me or the SWMBO, but dread being a passenger with him; his left foot braking just scares the C..p out of us.............!
