Hi all , Just booked our first trip abroad in our Hymer B544 - ( excited already ) - Catching the ferry to Dunkirk etc .
Now .... I've booked it as 6,5m but to be exact my van is 6.6m so I'm telling a little white lie - others must have tried it on I'm sure - did it work ? did you save a few quid ? ( I'm a yorkshireman )

Hmmm, so when you go to the Butcher and get charged for a Pound of mince your happy to only receive 3/4 of a Pound as he defrauds you of a 1/4 of it?

I think it's called Theft!!!

I wouldn't say it was theft as you suggest in my case, as soon as I realised my mistake I informed Bf who were not concerned. So pull your head in a bit .

Did I mention you? It's an observation of what's accepted and what's not in a different scenario.

You need to lighten up.

The thing is Khizzie ,you where 1 x60th out in imperial measure and that would not cost you a penny more and the ferry companies are fully aware of the length and hight of every standard van , it's the add ons they are after , not someone taking a rough measure of there van.enjoy lol.

Go online and get a price for both lengths. I've tried that and there's diddley-squat difference.
Don't understate/underestimate your height though (incl T.V. aerial or rooftop box). On some ferries they may send you 'upstairs' up a ramp which has restricted headroom.

We had no problem at any ferry ports on our western islands tour. Had we been caught I would just have apologised, paid the difference and played the dozy woman card
That's it, just be yourself:LOL:
I once had a female boss who got let off with speeding using the ' I've been caught short, trying to get to the services in a hurry' while fidgeting uncomfortably in her seat! Not once but twice!

Can I ask what time of the day are you all travelling at.
Because at 01.00 on Thursday 27 /4 /2017 when I crossed dover to dunkirk there were only 14 vehicles on the lorry deck. 3 lorries and a coach the rest were all 3.5 ton vans (mostly foriegn)and 1 motorhome (me).

We always use that crossing time as we cross dartford toll after 10pm (free) and get almost straight on boat. This year for a 7 metre van (7.25 +bike rack and 2 bikes ) under 3 mtrs (2.97 mtrs ) return for £ 86 direct DFDS booking.
