You have to give up your Motorhome !!!!!

I’ve always thought that motorhoming helps keep you fit. Living on a site for a few days does involve a fair amount of lugging and trekking not to mention trips out via local transport so all in all it is a type of enforced fitness regime. Well done to yourself for hanging in there and good luck for the future whatever you decide!

if the van had to go it would be because i could not drive it & there is no alternative to get anywhere & if i wasn't able to drive it then there isn't any point being here.
I've been taking on the DVLA for over 2 years now trying to get my licence reinstated.
Lateral thinking, why not take another test?

For what ever reason........ Health/Financial/Bored/Looking for another hobby...

What will/would you miss most.. ????????
.............................................................................................................................................................

I certainly did not want to pack it in and did give it another try when we moved back down to Weymouth, with a lovely PVC... but my body had other idea`s... :frowny:

I miss getting away from bloody bricks and mortar...... Friends..... Rally`s..... and generally going where I want and when I want..:nod:

What about others ????
I can only but agree with you , having a permanent residence , for the past 17 years winters in Spain in the motorhome summers in Wales static van, unfortunately , that as now come to an end , ie , back in my permanent residence
the winters in UK are not good , I still have a motorhome , for me and my dog , trying to build a new life especially the winters abroad , but as you get older the confidence factor kicks in , but you've got to try and kick out .

I have my Senior Railcard and Bus pass. So days out - or even longer - in various directions are there to be had.
Not the same i know but if you maybe have a static caravan at your favourite location, that could be an option.
Now that's a good idea. I would look at North Wales for me. Thank you.

After 20 years travelling abroad in our motorhome,we sold ours and bought a static caravan. After five years we got bored with going to the same place, and as hubbie is still capable of driving we,who are now 82 and 86,have started Motorhoming again, but only in England and within 100 miles ! And with a campervan not a motorhome. It has been lovely to meet up with old friends and if it only lasts this year it's worth it. I must admit we've lost a lot of our previous confidence and having just come back from a very muddy Peterborough I realised that I couldn't Push us out like I used to! But never mind the tractors were there,so still happy that we are doing "The last of the Summer, wine" !!!

I would miss the anticipation - just seeing the van triggers thoughts of where to go next

I do not need to see the MH, which I can every day, i have our travels in my imagination, which currently include 'our' restaurant in Bautzen, N&B factory, Stellplatz in Mosel, Morelo Open days(incl friends there + Bovril), old and new places in Provence, incursions into Ardeche, back through some old haunts, [break for Basia to visit Sister in Turkey], trip from home down to our favourite spot in Tatra Mts. in Slowakia, exploring new places in Italy on way to ferry from Ancona, camping on deck, lots of new places in Greece, Jazz festival in Kardamyli , maybe an island for a week, then wander slowly back via Ancona, possibly stop a bit in Austria, to get the value out of the 'GO' box, maybe stop again in Slowakia. Back home to decide where to live for the future.

This is the first year of 12 years together that we have been able to plan so expansively. Feels great - feeds my wanderlust. ::bigsmile:

We sat and thought about it, being 65 now the future seems a long way off but you never know, so:

For 15 years we have travelled as much as we can, there is not a day goes by when we don´t look at the TV and say ´been there ´ to a location, when it all stops the memories will continue.

We are changing the MH ( in May 🫰) for a number of reasons, accessibility - easier for bed and bath with wheelchair, Emissions are the latest standard and should be good for 10+ years, we averaged 10,000km per annum over the last 10 years so a fresh start on the km would be good, things we never had in the old MH like solar, and of course a decent auto box.

The MH is under 3500kg so no worries there ( I had C1 but with certain politics it was cancelled and the German replacement didn´t have the entitlement due to age etc, the cost of getting this back is a little steep, requiring training and a test, so I left it).

The plan is to go to 75 and see how we are, madame is a paraplegic and full time wheelchair user so 101% of MH stuff is down to me, if we are good we carry on, if not then we go static if there is a place we like or if not then its home, we do live next to Tyrol so life isn't so bad from home 🤔.

We already mix and match holidays with long weekends in hotels with good cabrio country, we cruise every 2 years on average ( next one is Iceland) and Winter Sun holidays New Year and Feb.

So we have a plan for the future, if we had to give up the MH sooner then so be it and we will adjust the plan.

A bit of a waffle but that's a sign of age and wisdom so I am told.

Because I would need a licence to do that. ;)
& that is what i meant.Apply for a provisional licence & take a theory test. pass that then lessons/ physical test.
if you are concerned about name, address & dob then 25 quid gets a change of name , use the same dob, theory then test. more than 11 ways to skin a cat. that is what i would be doing if of the opinion that the dvla were wrong along with timewasters & useless?

Richard, you are becoming more creative/devious than I. ;)
