Pathetic statement.

Who are you or anyone to say what I or anybody can afford and not only that. Whether I want to pay that price.
I spend my money as I wish and that’s not on a £30 plus a night campsite.
This statement “but you have a £75k motorhome “ has nothing to do with what anyone will have to live on and is typically used by councils and clubs to bump up their prices.
I agree. Similarly there are many people up and down the country, who paid many hundreds of thousands for their houses. Many of these people are struggling to pay the bills at the moment.

Bonded double aluminium sandwich has little chance of ingress and insulation is usually better than PVC, with no 'temperature bridges'.
Except at the joints and regards PVC’s most more than do the job and I suspect don’t rattle and shake as much

We often use our van in London, mainly Abbey Wood or Crystal Palace sites. £30/40 pn in London is cheap these days for 2 people. Luckily our van is ULEZ compliant. It’s probably the maximum I would pay anywhere to camp but its location and facilities are excellent.
Phil
What I find annoying is you look on the sites web page it'll have pricing from £12 per night or something similar , yet I've tried booking the cheapest pitch they offer is grass no EHU etc it never comes out anything near that cheap

It's gone mad. I'm just doing some research for an article. I've got a 2019 Magazine with an article about motorhomes you can buy for £50k. Just collating today's prices. The jump in 5 years is incredible. I know things have gone up, but there is some pee taking going on the chain, there just has to be.
Our 2013 La Strada with Engine, Gearbox and full leather upgrades cost €70,000

At the Dusseldorf show, last year, 2023 starting price

€170,000 without upgrades

But if you can afford say £75k for a motorhome you can afford £30/night.
Sorry, don’t agree.
You work hard, save hard, finally have the wherewithal to afford your 75k (or more) motorhome.
Now £30 a night for a site…..ok we want to stay for 4 days……£120, plus all the holiday things you may want to do, maybe you have kids so there is more expense.
How many times can you afford to do that before you realise that saying above doesn’t work?

A few years ago pre covid we always struggled to get into Abbey Wood and Crystal Palace and never weekends. Since ULEZ it’s fairly easy midweeks probably because of the daily high price of non compliant vans like you say.
Phil

For LEZ(not ULEZ) non-compliant vehicles over 3.5t it is up to £300p.d, on the move, depending on year/emissions e.g. 2003, so prohibitive.

19 month year 18000 miles UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Germany, Italy. Campsites and off Grid.
Some folks will willingly pay that sort of money for a new vehicle but then moan about the cost of site fees.

Paul
Why do you need a site with a nice van like that?

Anyway, afford and willing to pay are two different things. I can afford £123,345 but I wouldn't pay it.

Further to my own post above.

Under 3.5t one pays £12.50 p.d. for ULEZ. Over 3.5t by just 100 - 350kg one pays the LEZ charge up to £300 p.d.

TOTALLY DISPROPORTIONATE !

Some people will say it's to keep up the various emission zones but, if they registered, that issue could be solved and they would save £housands.
How does that work? Is the ULEZ cheaper if you register?

Not sure about cheaper ( I think so in some?) but will not get any non payment fines if you accidentally go in.
