WTF !!! Nick Sanders made an MBE

thinking we was miles from any one.
Experience has taught me that finding a good place in the dark is impossible :)
Camped in a good spot once in Mersea, Esses, woke up next to a road with a dog peeing on the tent. Dark, no see, bad ;)

This is a well known phenomenon in W Mersea. They filmed The woman in Black there. Or was it Osea island nearby?
Whatever, it’s a nice place, especially the shed for sea food.
Phil

Following morning, having dug a latrine, I was just puling my kaks up when two joggers came past !
We had camped about 10 yards from the edge of a big housing estate !

It's people like you that give biking a bad name. Woods are being fenced off all over the place due to people like you.

Henry never look's at ease on a bike, he may love them but is one of the two most unnatural riders I know, the other one is a mate of mine :p

But wouldn't he look good on Hercules.

Well we are not alone then.. good to know !

We did not even have darkness as an excuse !

Hi Steve. Are you at highlands end ? If so, I have a present for you, just don’t bring that bloody blow pipe.
Phil
Ha ha Phil no but I am in Yorkshire and there could be a few pipe blowers around here, I may take it to the local pub and find some.

I went around the world with him in 2002. Fantastic trip, still good memories.
32,000 miles in three and a half months, It was hard going but that's the way he does things. I wouldn't have done it without him. Thankyou Nick.

Every one seems to think I do not believe he is very good at doing what he does.... Could not be further from my point..
He really is top notch at long distance stuff, two wheeled travelling, and indeed getting folk on tours..
My point is I do not think ( and appreciate it is my opinion and nothing more ) an MBE is the correct way to recognise this.

Do not get me wrong, , having met and chatted several times some years ago he is a really nice bloke and he has some GREAT stories to tell, but an MBE ?

I know just what you mean. We need to start a petition to make him Sir Nick Sanders.

Good though it would be, Lord Sanders of Machynlleth might be pushing it.

The only person I've seen that makes motorcycling seem boring.

That's very very silly mileage. 10,000 miles a month, 300+ every day. Or are you counting air/boat miles too ?

Whatever - RESPECT !
Actual road miles. Some days it was 600+. I became a member of the Iron Butt association while travelling through Australia, 1000mls in 24 hrs.
We had rest days waiting for flights etc.
We had a 5 day wait in Sydney which I took the opportunity to 'walk the bridge' and swim at Bondi beach. As I said earlier, Great memories.
When I arrived home it took a few weeks to readjust, I wanted to just ride my bike.
I still prefer a long ride to a short blast.

That is one hell of an understatement. I can fully understand wanting to keep going, three months of constant buzzzz. It must be like going cold turkey.

How many of you were riding ?

Nick can't give it up, he's a total bike junkie it would seem.

>> I still prefer a long ride to a short blast.

That's a bit of a pity when you live next to some of the UK's best bike roads.

If anyone is interested.

So, a herd of bikers. That's brave or foolish, the more you have the more incidents you'll have.

The immediate impression, no GSs with big tin boxes on them. It somehow looks wrong, that's how we've been brainwashed by Ewan and Charlie.

PS: Correction: I think I just spotted on GS in there.

I think there is at least 3 GS's , possibly 4 ? 11 BMW's in total ... Poor old Guzzi did not fair too well, but the Blackbird... never missed a beat !

Well that may have been a bit more challenging than expected.

My take is way too long and pressured to be enjoyable. People do the same in here with MHs - "yippeeee we've got three weeks off so we'll do France, Holland, Germany, Italy, Spain and Portugal".

A bit like some threads on here sometimes! :giggler:
