Did a few miles yesterday from the Larouletta campsite at Urrugne to Villajoyosa something like 450 so getting towards the end and I decided that the safest way was to go over this bucket rather than swerve and catch it with a wheel. It hit the steel pipe which goes from the bottom of the radiator but I cannot see any damage but it made a noise.
All set up now for a few weeks.

Assuming you were doing 60mph or so, swerving could have made you loose control. Probably better if the bucket went under the van rather than a tyre as a rapid deflation could have caused the same loss of control. I would have done as you did.

Video won't play but bucket doesn't look that big surprised it hit anything, yep I think I would have gone straight over it.

It may have had heavy contents so I would have tried to avoid it
