Would someone be willing to offer up some thoughts on a van we are thinking of buying?

just-looking
I'm just after some gut reactions really, if I could PM you a link to the vehicle.

I'm not asking if it would be the "right" van, just if it looks half sensible in it's own right.

Plus I guess it would be good if anyone had any obvious questions we should be asking the seller.

We have a self converted swb low roof nissan nv400, same as a renault master just a different front end.
We need a swb van due to parking at home, however it is much bigger than a lwb vw, but no longer, you can just about stand up inside, we have a fixed double bed, inside private toilet, a couple of seats, hot and cold water etc.
It's easy to drive, a little wider than a vw but fits everywhere we have been.
All in, Inc conversion ( which isn't rubbish) for around 11k.
Have a look at them, you get so much for the money without the vw badge tax.

In which case it's a Ford, they have a reputation of being easy to steal so i'd get a bit of security fitted.
And make sure you have a fire extinguishers (y)

If you want VW based van we saw this in one Slow Show Arizona a couple of days ago.
That's our Kon-Tiki in the background of 2nd image.
Not sure it was for sale, I think we stumbled onto the set of Cars IV.
DOC Hudson Hornet is the car to the left of the yellow one in image 3.
Hope this was helpful.

What is the actual inside standing height from floor to ceiling please?

We started with something similar (Camperking), it was great and for us, a good introduction however - check out the bed, we had to get a memory foam topper which took quite a lot of storage space. Because we had an awning and chairs etc, couldn’t always stop for a quick cuppa as all stored in the back. So as we got older we went for something that was a little more comfortable.
Minor points as we used it a lot and a real positive was that we got the same as we paid for it after five years use

Seems little more than a very expensive weekend van, more suitable for campsites.
+1
great for festival weekends etc with access to toilet & shower block.

Price is probably getting on for double what its worth, merely because it has 'VW' written on front grille

Just measured it inside and between the roof spars it is 5'8" tall, I'm 5'11" and just stoop a little when I'm stood cooking or something and it feels fine to be honest.
I should also mention that with the bed at mid height it is 6'3" long across the van.

102ps is adequate if you are not in a rush.

Definitely get a heater.

Tailgate is preferable but go for more money.

Roof can be insulated with a wrap-round external cover in colder months.

Can't really comment on the price but looks reasonable compared to others I've seen.

What mechanical and conversion warranty? You can get the VW All-in-one I think.

But Air-con would be a deal breaker for me.

FunkyDubz are an established VW converter who specialise in Transporters. They’ll take used and nearly new Transporters and give them a stunning makeover into a stylish minibus/van/camper. Great guys who offer nice conversions across a range of price points. Very competitive on price.

TheWearyOne, I don't know where you are but if anywhere near the western part of the West Midlands why don't you come and look at our LWB Highroof T6 jut to get a view of the possibilities of such a vehicle. No pressure to buy as I'm not in a position to sell it yet anyway.

Pictures are available from the link in my signature.

I regularly see folk "working from home" in their motorhomes at rallies across the new forest area. It's a great way to enjoy the work/life balance
