Worst place you ended up due to Sat Nav

Taken down a steep hill into the centre of a town. A pretty cobbled street but parked cars one side and a granite curb the other. Wheel trims wrecked and wing mirror pushed in by a street lamp on the edge. Only centimetres between us and the cars on the other side but no going back. Even the best SatNav can get it wrong.

Coming the back road into port Isaac when they are filming Doc Martin, had to remove all the film equipment and signs to say the village was closed, another one the tunnel in Roune that some people say isn't there,?

Years ago, somewhere in mid Wales, the inevitable “are you sure?” lesson. Ended up in a small narrow steep rough-track farmyard facing a huge and large irritated looking bull ... mystified farmer and wife peering from beyond net curtains. We explained and he said we weren’t the first... and grumbled that he would have to keep the “long gate” closed and create a private lane sign posted on it. Following a 45 point turn we went on our way. Lol

What's the best atlas [UK} recommended to double check the Sat Nav's suggestions?

We had a “turn right” on the way up to Les Deux Alpes...took a shed load of km’s off the journey.....Yes, alarm bells should have rung !! It began to narrow rapidly and very soon a French gentleman drew up behind gesticulating manically that it was too tight for our 7m Autoroller. Another 15 point turn and a few choice words and we were on our merry way. On another occasion, again on our way to the Alpes, it tried to get us to turn us left over the Rhône on the way to Grenoble....so off the main road onto some poxy small one. Very bizarre.

Looking at the Stuck in Cadiz thread I wondered what’s the worst place / situation you’ve ended up using a Sat Nav two experiences come to mind - not quite as bad.

1. In the middle of a field, when using for us the first time, inbuilt in a new car when they were first out. We were Looking for the Tatton Park Garden show. Never been before so didn’t think anything of turning into field as thought it was extended parking for the show!
2. More experienced with sat navs and didn’t blindly do what they told us to do, or so we thought, a tom tom this time, with European maps, on the Mosel, ended up in MH on a vineyard path right on river! 15 point turn and very sweaty by the time we were able to get back up the narrow single road back up the side of the hill.
Ended up in Dundee once :boxing::boxing::rofl::rofl::rofl::boxing::boxing:

Followed Sat Nav knowing I needed to get under/over the M74. The road became windier and smaller, then turned into a sandy track. A few yards later this track was barred by a 5 bar gate. On the other side of the gate was the embankment down to the M74 ??.
