If only the USA embraced roundabouts...This a couple of years old but illustrates how we compare at killing people on the roads. France specifically compares badly, about 3 times the size of the UK with almost an identical population total yet around double the fatality rate on the roads. The UK remains quite consistently on a par with the Nordic countries and Switzerland. Clearly the place to avoid on the chart is Romania!

It does, very badly indeed. If only the USA embraced roundabouts...
With more than 1 mass shooting a day, I think road deaths are the least of their worries. If only the USA embraced roundabouts...
You have to remember, you need to go the opposite way round when in Europe so maybe they are doing it right...................Over the last 5 weeks we have been in france touring it seems to me the driving standard here has dropped they still don't have a clue how to go round a roundabout and will overtake in the worst possible places
Agree with Romania. Not even sure they have driving tests. Was told its so bad because they have got freedom since the communist era, now they are earning good money they are buying fast cars ( mercs are very very popular). They just don't give a dam about any rules, however we found them not to be aggressive or pushy towards us. I would say 80 to 90 percent are on there mobile phones. Swaying all over the roads in, paths, hedges anywhere really. That was this spring. This a couple of years old but illustrates how we compare at killing people on the roads. The scariest taxi experience was in Milan. The driver deliberately drove through speed cameras making gestures with both hands, drove so fast he almost hit a barrier. We told him to stop when we were near enough to our destination. Having just crossed back into France from Italy it is a bit of a relief. Though around Nice they’re nearly as bad. Woman texting drove across the pedestrian crossing we were on today!Take a taxi in any town/city in Italy......Fear?....you don't know the meaning of the word.
You're right Birmingham is awful and the driving is worse. The school run has to be seen to be believed, mum's doing their hair, on the phone or waving at someone all at speed for one junction.Birmingham is awful!!!
Inept or just aggressive and non caring.
I just accept it, slow right down and let them kill themselves, it used to wind me up. I let them get in with it wherever now.
Worst place I have ever seen was Indonesia, it has to be seen to be believed.
My daughter was on holiday in Italy just a couple of weeks ago and flying home from Naples, their journey started a boat from Capri which was late - eventually they jumped in a taxi in Naples and told him they would double the fare if he could get them to the airport by such a time - I hear it was insane. The scariest taxi experience was in Milan. Having just been in Romania, I can totally agree with their ranking. Very surprised about the USA. Is that really correct? What's the source of those statistics? This a couple of years old but illustrates how we compare at killing people on the roads. Am not that supposed about USA to be honest. We have been on some long drives over there and I bet a lot fall asleep at the wheel. I believe the age they can drive is quite young, and there driving test from what I have been told is if you can get it moving you have basically passed your test. Then you have the shootings, that won't help. Then the extremes of weather. They do like a good pile up now and then.Having just been in Romania, I can totally agree with their ranking. Birmingham cannot be that bad can it...standards must have improved in 1977 when I left....Birmingham is awful!!!

My brother was stopped on a random breath test in France when it came back zero they did it again and then called their colleagues over to see the resultsI cannot believe 9% admit drink driving after their liquid lunches there's always wine with everything. 35% hang of your bumper now your having a laf.
With circa 2.5 times more French people questioned than any other single country the results are skewed.carry out the survey, Ipsos questioned via the Internet, 12,400 people aged 16 and over, including 2,400 French people and at least 1,000 people in each of the 10 other countries surveyed (Germany, Belgium, Spain, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, United Kingdom, Slovakia, Sweden).
Of the places I have been I have to agree.Italians are the worst in my experience![]()

At least 1000, could be any number between 1 and 1000.
Just saying....
