Hi everyone,
There’s a lot of info about windscreen insulation and avoiding condensation inside with external covers. But I cannot find a link to skylight preparation for winter insulation! We now have a Hymer T554 SL with A LOT of perspex on the roof and we plan to be touring this winter in the UK🥶
We would appreciate any advice or ideas to help with these inevitable heat loss/cold gain and how to avoid condensation.
Many thank Andy

I'm tight, so I just use some bubble wrap (multi-layered) that my parts once came in from Amazon and then close the top blind. I also use small foam pipe insulation to squeeze in the gap between my rear doors on my PVC stops any draughts.

I was looking at the same solution, until I read the vans manual for the M/H part of the van, and it specifically warns about having the reflective blinds fully drawn as the heat build up can effect the dome roof lights plastic !! ? Probally not an issue in the UK, but I can understand the temptation of a 40 deg southern europe day.

Andy, this is the stuff you need - £30 from Screwfix.

It's very pliable and you can add as many layers as you wish to the windows, windscreen and skylights.

It worked a treat for us.

All the best,

Andrew

I just got some of the cheap silver foil bubble rap insulation, stuck 4 layers together with double sided tape and then cutting to size to fit.
It's held in place by sliding closed the blind. Done the same for our other 2 roof light, and the hab side windows.
Acts as sound insulation as well.

Nice, that's a neat tip.

I made some to fit the skylights from the white plastic foam that came wrapping my solar panels. Not sure how much it does. Possibly more psychological.
