Yeh all true words it’s that first get up and go syndrome but at this moment in time it’s tipping down and no confidence in going anywhere.

Plus purchased a cover and the vans wet and the weathers not been kind enough to dry van and stick the cover on.

See the vans looks so sad waiting for decent weather.

An easy way to cheer it up is to take it out... even if you only go out for a day trip...
... also...if it's raining... I find it's a good time to wash ours if it's grubby.. ..

There's plenty of places you could go in it. Enjoy it!

Yep as others been out in the snow, funniest was Oxford. Site frozen up and happened to be in the office/shop when a guy came in to complain about frozen taps. Warden said well the one outside the office was ok when you arrived should have filled up then!

Just wrap up and make sure the heater works and min temp doesn't drop below 4'C in van & water systems

Oh and pack decent water proof coats etc. to enjoy Britain in any conditions

Was that when the beast from the east hit earlier this year? I was there then and it was great fun being creative with the water in and out :-)

You lot are pushing me into taking Harald out to play.

Trust my luck the first time I’ll use the van it will bloody snow lol.

Perfect, then put the heating on if it snows.

You would be most welcome to join our club, the Compass and Herald Motorhome club. You can certainly purchase a Herald handbook for you van
through our club. We have our 25th anniv. this year. We have been members since 1995 and have been on rallies in all parts of UK,Ireland, France and Spain as well as Scandinavia. To join just contact Mrs Jean Walters and say Ed sent you. Her contact is 01516251383.

A good warm nights sleep is our priority, we wild camping all year round in the far north of Scotland and never have the heating on through the night.

A hoody and fleece bottoms are warmer than pj's.
Hot water bottle.
Good, minimum 3 season sleeping bag.
Put a duvet over your sleeping bag if really cold.
In the morning put kettle and heating on. Back to bed and enjoy your cuppa - by then the van is warm

Who needs hook up ?

Love the sound of that.

Been in contact with Jean via email might join the club and Jean did say she had something to do with the van but I’m sure she said it wasn’t a handbook.

Might be wrong mind you.

We use our motorhome all year round. It is so cosy in winter, just make sure the heating works (gas is better than electric plug in I understand). We have just bought Silver Screens to cover the outside of the windscreen and door windows. The bed end is at the back and tends to be warmer but we have nice cosy bed linen and a fur throw for the bed.

Nice hot meal, bottle of wine and a bit of telly in a cosy motorhome - you can't beat it.

Waste of money buying a motorhome if you are only going to use it in winter.

Last word I think you mean summer

A waste of money is a bit strong. The more you use it yes the nightly cost reduces, but not all have limitless free time or need to work etc.

Whoops, thanks CazPaul, last word should be summer! We mainly do weekend trips in winter and the longer ones in summer, although between Xmas and NY is always a good time to get away.

We use ours all year round. A couple of things we got caught out on in the beginning when we first used it in winter time.
On our first trip all the water had dumped. We were driving along with the electric to the water pump turned on. As the temperature around the boiler was below 4c it automatically dumped all the water in the system. Now we leave the boiler either on or empty when travelling on the road. If your not on EHU make sure the solar panel is clear of ice or snow so it can charge your batteries. Shorter days means more battery power is required especially if its cloudy and overcast. One 110 amp GEL battery is sufficient for us during the summer but after three days on site during the winter without EHU our battery is pushed. We use our MH to attend a exhibition in Cologne in January. Its usually down to around -12c. Inside the van its nice and cosy.

Wild wind and blustery but what a walk we came back from - Wisemans Bridge to Saundersfoot, then a cuppa in the warm van then off again from Wisemans Bridge to Amroth and back along the beach, at times waves crashing on the beach and wind off the sea. We and dogs love it - clean cold sea air, what could be better.
Only saw a few others - gorgeous back in the Cwtch now.

We did look in to using our van at Xmas, but it works out cheaper for us to use a premier inn so that’s what we are doing.

Fantastic part of the country out of season , I am away day afterBoxing Day ,down Cornwall hopefully some wild weather and breakers to see again . I have been at amroth when that beach rd was covered in stones delivered by the waves !

I’m currently down St Clair’s in a log cabin didn’t bring MH but will in the new year.

I live in SW Wales, so no need to use my motorhome in that part of the World

But, I do use it for my regular 4 week snowboarding trips to Austria

What the photo doesn't show, is that it's in the car park of a four star hotel, complete with pool, sauna, steam room, etc. which is where I stay!

Not sure if I'll ever be a proper motorhomer - but life is great!
