Winter Meet in Southern Spain/Portugal 2013

Think my dog is going to have puppies :Rofl1::Rofl1:

Good idea, but whenever & wherever you finally decide to go, would it please be possible to have 2 threads. One for ESSENTIAL info & one for 'witty banter'.
It is very time consuming ploughing thru thousands of posts searching for relevant info, especially if one relies on campsite wi-fi abroad. Thanks.

Is it not the essential information that is the precursor to witty banter. To divide one or other could reduce interest in both. Init :beerchug:

Winter Meet 2013, nothing else pleeeeeese !

I suggest you guys look at the original post ! your petty squabbles only adding to the problem !:Doh::Doh:

does anyone know where else we might accommodate 20 or so vans in the area?

Could try Almayate (see ACSI) close to Torre del Mar (two sites a few hundred meters apart but you only get your kit off at one of them:Blush::Blush::Blush:) We went during March last year and their season was just starting. They were hoping to open in Feb this year but I don't know if they did. I reckon they would be happy to have 20 extra. They certainly have the room.

Sorry I ment Santander with overnite stop at Salamanca

Malc

Bugger. I have been looking all over my map and using to find this second Salamanca on the coast:Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1:. Oh well it could have been a good one.

With reference to people who post on this thread they only want information and not "witty banter" may I point out the name of our forum...

I believe there are forums which specialise in processing information...

What's wrong with the birth of pets?

I am sure WHEN there are firm details re this possible meet, the facts (whoops) will be accessible...

In the meantime... Where is that Christmas Card list?

JJ

I believe that when real detail such as proposed site and list of attendees is starting there should be a dedicated thread to avoid confusion BUT there will always be FUN here

It would be nice to have as well precise dates (Well Boss ... YOU have to decide this) Because it would be easier to know whether it is possible to attend or not! I can only speak for me of course , but as I am quite disappointed to have no hols at that moment , I am now trying to see if I can buy hols (around 500eur for 10 days ) so I will have to know the dates or I won't be able to do it .... If JJ can manage to come too .... that is!!

Oh and would really love it to be down south Spain or Portugal so we (JJ and I ... of course ... not everybody :BigGrin:) would get a chance to visit Marie and Rex at the same time

Chicken Run

That wouldn't put Andy & Lesley off they have one every Friday.

I was going to suggest The Chicken Run, and I'm sure they would be up for it. The problem I see is the lack of facilities. If you are a wild camper you will love it, no electric, no loos but the company is superb and the taxi service is something else.

We will be going back, we love the place.

I will give them a shout see if it can be done. :shout:

We3 went to Chicken Run in Feb this year and had electric.

Olhao

Some friends of ours go to the campsite at Olhao, near Faro, every winter and say it's not expensive. Its shower/toilet facilities have been upgraded this winter, according to this new review - see

Might think about going next year, my cousin lives nearby!

Went there earlier this year ...............NICE

Now that is what I call a real senior moment. I must learn to concentrate.:Doh:

Yes they do have electric, but wilders could do without ... or share?

HI

I too would be interested in a meet in Spring, be it either Spain or Portugal.

Cheers

we will definitely call in to see everybody. :thumb:
We're not bothered whether it's in Spain or Portugal - it will be FUN wherever it is
Not sure how long we would stay as there are still loads of places we haven't been before.

Mike and Gwen

Hi all,i don't know if this is any interest to you ,could be a bit pricey,i,ve never stayed there but have walked by lots of times ,it's situated between Albir and Altea Costa Blanca about 5 miles from Benidorm,Altea is a 15 min walk along the sea front and Albir is much closer ,the bus to Benidorm  runs passed the site.the beach is pebbles but there is a sandy bit nearer to Albir it's called Camping Capblanch,277 pitches and pretty well all the facilities....
Link Removed
I see it's on the ACSI list as well....

Anyway have fun....Dug.:thumb:

Winter Meet 2013

Hi
We would be very interested in joining a winter break, for some decent weather:Doh:Hope hope!!
Our past experiences of the weather at that time of the year is that western Portugal is very much colder and wetter than the Algarve and southern Spain ( it being nearer to the Atlantic).
Touriscampo to the west of Lagos is a well kept site, superb facilities, ample room for a Meet, but the pool is outdoors and was closed - too cold.
Albufeira it very popular at that time of the year, but Camping Albufeira is very much dominated by the C and C Club rally so pitches are at a premium. Pool also closed.
I believe the Quateira site is closed for redevelopment but had, when we were there limited space for tourers.
We found Olhao to be very crowded.
We have heard good vibes from some friends who stayed near Tavira, but sorry I don't know the sites name.
We've some pleasant memories of Benidorm, Camping Vilasol , and as previously posted, there's always plenty to do.
We found eastern Spain to be cooler and rainier too, up towards Barcelona.
Hope our 5 pennorth is useful.
Having said all, we're more than happy to go with 'flo'.

yep sounds like a plan. Was planning on spending winter in Spain and Portugal anyway. Would be even better if anyone was up for two or three days in Sierra nevada for a spot of winter sports; not neccessarily skiing but winter walks on raquettes? So.... does anyone know if its possible to wild camp in the ski station???

How about Nerja, close to Malaga, warmer in the off season months and cheaper than the Costa Blanca area...plus not so many tourists, good scenery, great town, wild parking and c/sites. Plenty of places to explore inland and closer too Portugal.
Stayed last January for 2 months loved it!

thats pretty much the area that we are interested in spending december. weather conditions permitting we hope to participate in some winter sports in the Sierra Nevada. can you give us some imfo on campsites and or wild camping up at the ski station, or in the surrounding areas. yhx:Smile:

2013 abroad meet

Looking to get another meet together somewhere warmer than the UK for a three week period in feb/march next year. Who would be up for it and where should we go?
i
Hi Jim, you can put me down for what ever,Benidorm, Guardamar, costa del sol Fuengerola area, maybe, Portugal for a real change, probably the Quarteria area, next to the big marina resort, which I cant remember the name of, yes Im very interested. Cheers Ron n Patrick

Hi Jim, We would be interested in this. After last years trip where we got as far as Blanes then turned for home I would agree that you need to be further south to get some better weather.
Both Nerja and Tavira are nice towns so we would be interested in either. It all depends on if spaces are available.:thumb:
