Winter meet in Essex - Waldegraves 23-25 November 2012 Mersea Island

Details of End of Season Finale

MOTORHOMES - TENTING TOURING PITCHES

For motorhomes Friday to Sunday the charge is £32 plus £2 per night per dog and includes electric hook up. This is for a maximum of 2 adults and 2 children.

As usual pitches will be allocated and those on pitches surrounding the car park have the option to park on the car park or the road area near your pitch. This covers us in case of severely wet weather.

Here is a link to the pitches

We will be on pitch 235.

For motorhomers Fishing for adults is £5.50 per day for 1 rod or £10 for 2 rods. Golf driving range is £2.50 for one bucket of balls or 5 buckets for £10. Pitch and Putt (open weather permitting) is £2.50 per person and Golf Clubs can be hired.

IF YOU DONT HAVE A MOTORHOME - STATIC RENTAL

If you wish to stay in their static the charge is £130 as it is an activity weekend. There is an extra charge of £15 per dog. Waldegraves have agreed if Funsters are staying in a static they will charge for one dog only. You can always get other funsters or friends to stay with you and share the costs.

An activity weekend for those staying in statics means you get free fishing and free use of the golf facilities for everyone staying in the same unit.

If you need a key to the barrier it is a £10 refundable deposit.

We again have use of the undercover sink area to meet and barbeque.

OUR PLAN

Friday evening Welcome. Come and meet your fellow funsters. We will have some hot drinks including mulled wine early evening usually some time between 5.30pm and 7pm dependent on arrival times and we will be barbequeing in the undercover area. You are welcome to bring along food to cook. After that there is either the clubhouse for entertainment or the main restaurant/bar to chilll and play pool. The choice is yours.

Saturday evening is the End of Season Finale - Fancy Dress optional but we do hope you will join in. We will meet late afternoon in the undercover area and the barbeque will be going again. There will be some mulled wine but please bring some drinks and nibbles as the food served by Waldegraves isnt usually served until about 8.30pm-9pm.

Each meet so far has been different and we dont have plans set in stone. We try to tell everyone what is going on and it is then up to you. There is no pressure to join in.

Sunday lunchtime/afternoon. You are welcome to join us for a Sunday Roast and/or meal in the restaurant. The food is good quality, good portions and we feel good value for money. Please let us know in advance.

We need to be off pitch by 3pm.

TIDE TABLES - IMPORTANT

To access & leave Mersea Island you will need to drive across the causeway which is a road that is covered at times by high tide. This year we are lucky with the tide times so no worries on this one.

DONT FORGET

Fun badges if you have them
Warm clothes and wellies
Alcohol if you drink it
Fancy Dress costume if you are game for a laugh
Donations of mulled wine/drinks/food/snacks to share appreciated.

IF YOU ARE NEW TO FUN

We have some small funster badges and stickers for your motorhome

We look forward to meeting funsters new and old and hope you have an enjoyable time

Do we need to book the sunday lunch? If so, YES please, can we be added to the list?

Thanks, looking forward to meeting you all.

Hi Gail, if we need to book Sunday lunch + 2 please, Richard x

I currently have pre-booked 14 places for sunday lunch

I will need to collect £5 deposit per head/per person on the friday night to confirm bookings for the sunday lunch. This is a non returnable deposit because the staff at waldegraves have been extremely accommodating and good to us.

Lunch, unless you wish it earlier, will be sometime between 1.30pm and 2.30pm - from past experience when we booked it for 12 - 12.30 far too many were still hungover and hadnt had breakfast, let alone having the stomach to face a sunday lunch.

You are also welcome to book lunch separately and earlier directly with Waldegraves but please let us know if you have done this so that we dont double book.

Hope this is helpful

We are so thrilled so many of you are attending this year. We knew a few would be up for it but the response this year has been overwhelming and we hope we can meet your expectations as we dont want to let any of you down xxxx. We already know that we wont all fit within the shaded sink area

This meet has now grown beyond all previous years. We are bringing two charcoal bbqs but will need extra help folks.

I am not sure this will be anywhere near big enough to accommodate everyone as I am sure, as usual, a good many of you will be bringing food to stick on the BBQ which as those who have attended before know we also use to keep the evening chill away.

Ive already got loads of mince pies and hotdogs but if you have a bbq or can help with the charcoal or bring rolls we would really appreciate it.

If anyone has patio heater or an an urn (that we can use to keep the mulled wine warm) these too would be appreciated as Ive now been outbid of 4 on ebay. With the arthritis Im not up to going back and forth to the motorhome as much as I used to xxxxx

The wonderful thing about fun is that everyone chips in whether its doing the washing up or bringing something along, but asking in advance is not something I am used to xxxxxx so I hope you dont mind xxxxx

Hi Gail
We'll be late coming in Friday, Gel's got a late hospital appointment, also shall I bring the gas fire plenty of warmth in it.

Hi Gail
This is our first meet so we are totally new to this but it sounds as if you have had an overwhelming response this year.
We were wondering would it help if we cooked up a big chilli for people to help themselves to, especially as there may not be enough BBQ's for people to use.
If there are electric sockets under the covered area, we have two slow cookers that could be plugged in keeping the food warm.
If you are not sure if there is power there we could pop over tomorrow and check it out.

Cheers Jane and Steve:Smile:

Little Urn

We have a gas Cadac (low-level one) which we are quite happy to bring. Also have my Remoska on-board as standard so can re-heat/keep things warm in that. We will bring a bag of rolls and some sausages to go in them. Looks like we could do with the wine box as well!

It is great to see such a response especially as this will be our first rally as funsters....we are looking forward to putting faces to the names that keep coming up on the screen.

Good, always carry the COBB bbq, I use a blow torch to start it.

we will bring some wine and some soft drinks 2ltr bottle maybe and some burgers

We have a 15Ltr tea urn we can bring - don't see any reason why we cant put mulled wine in it to keep warm. if it's not needed we can boil watre in it for those that want coffee or tea?
Will also bring some charcoal incase its needed.
Tony wants to know if anyone going in fancy dress - is there a theme?
