Hi,
just bought a new motor home and an experienced friend say leave the heating on all the time at about 10c. It will not use much gas and the solar panel will keep the battery charged. Any comments or thought would be appreciate.

The heating in any motorhome new or not will produce condensation there's no getting around it.
Only it is already damp inside. modern heating expels the combustion gases out of a flue.

Condensation can be a sign of water ingress.

If you're not using it for a length of time then the best thing is to drain down, leave taps, all lockers & fridge/freezer open.

If you can, take all mattresses into your home- mine went under my bed.
If you have an electric drop down bed in the MH make sure it is lowered a couple of inches to allow airflow.
I've never had to remove or detach cushions but you can.

Check regularly

Are people taking their cab seats out and indoors, or just taking them apart in situ? Their made of exactly the same stuff as the rest of the van. Bench seats? U shaped lounge seats?

Never removed mattresses, cushion, seating etc. I used to be quite paranoid about the winter months, but years later, I drain it all down, open only the large cupboard door, bathroom door and one wardrobe door. I do put a big blanket over the rear fixed bed, but that’s about it 👍🏻

Just breathing in a camper causes condensation. It doesn't have anything to do with damp. If it's warmer inside than it is outside there will be condensation.
