Wine in Portugal

I don't know what the tax on wine in Portugal is but I think in France and Spain it's very low as it's seen quite rightly as a normal part of the diet. In the UK it's £3 a litre plus Vat so there is usually going to be a pretty big difference in cost.

Never had a bad wine here, and never paid more than a fiver for a bottle😉
The 5 lt boxes of Piaz are good😜

A good tip when in the supermarkets ( Pingo, Continente etc) is to look for the ones with the biggest price reductions. You can always find a €10-15 bottle for €3/4 😉😎
We’ve never had a bad one either - white, red, rose or sparkling. A wine region that seems to get overlooked is the Dão. Some cracking reds 😍 and if you hunt out the special offers/discounts in the supermarkets - you might find that the wine is cheaper than water 🤣

I bet they're like the supermarket offers here or for that matter DFS and Mountain Warehouse stick a fiver on and take 6 off so a bit of a bargain but nothing like it appears.
Although there’s an element of truth to that I’m sure, they do some excellent wines on offer.

I’m no expert but do drink a fair bit of wine and Continente do some lovely ones on offer. This is one we always keep an eye out for which tastes like it costs a lot more than it actually does.
