Windscreen sun visor

Maybe the guys that do window tints can do you just a strip along the top of your windscreen from a roll of tint.

That’s what I had done when we had a mini 👍

Maybe he’s looking to do the same as in the 70’s as below 😊

Before fitting... check..

I was going to fit a sunscreen on the windscreen of my Ducato, but was advised that if it covers ANY part of the swept area it would fail the MOT ... when I checked the swept area it almost reaches the top of the screen, so no space for a sun strip ..

You just put shorter blades on for the mot.

Problem sorted 😊

yes it is a total itv failure here as well. I got pulled years ago on a tranist connect & had to remove it.
On this van I have an external one piece GRP visor bolted on which is legal

I have prescription sunglasses , darkest tint legally alowed,No;3 , & at times here in the sun they are so clear that you think you haven't even put them on , yet look down & you cannot see the dash, sat nav, cameras. wife sitting next to you & god forbid when the "lights on for tunnel" sign appears you forget to lift them

buy two & join in the middle/to one side/somewhere.
Most of the long ones come in two sections anyway so they will not make the desired length.

I have a personal sun visor, easily adjustable and works in every direction, cheap and transferable to different vehicles, you see them described and sold as: Baseball Cap 🤔😁

I find that, with the windscreen so far in front of the driving position, I rarely need to use the sun visor. By the time the sun is low enough to need the visor, it would need to be almost directly in front of me and blocking the view.

Does anybody have a suggestion for a windscreen sun visor for an A class motorhome. The ones i can find on line are only long enough for cars.

Thanks in advance.
You can get a fade in strip from Amazon for under a fiver. Buy two and fro side by side😊

Both of those are likely cabdidates but i am not sure 2m is wide enough. The van is 2.3mts wide without the mirrors. I cannot confirm the width at the moment as we are away. The screen is the same as you get on the big trucks and coaches.

I will contact the chaps above to see if they know of anything.
Buy two and join them🤔😊

I have a pair of polarised transition lenses; they are quite new out. They are always a bit dark, but the polarisation reduces glare, especially if you are driving towards the sun. I like them.

One minute behind the windscreen at 07;30 this morning. They do go a lot darker when the sun is stronger.

Been to our Opticians this morning. Discussed options for transition lenses for new specs. He confirmed that a more recent version does darken in sunlight even when shielded from most of the UV by the windscreen glass. He mentioned that a possible problem might be the slowness to revert when driving from bright sun into a dark tunnel. I decided that it was probably safer to have the older style of photo-chromatic lenses which would darken when outside in bright sun, but less so when driving. For driving in bright sun I thought it best to continue to use my (not very elegant) clip-on dark covers which I can easily flip up when entering a tunnel.

Wondered if I was just being too cautious and how you had found the responsiveness to revert from being dark when driving into a dark tunnel, Howard B .

Not driven in dark tunnels so cant answer that. If it was too dark id rake them off. My eyesight is good enough to drive legally without glasses, but i wear them just to sharpen things up a bit.

I'd be interested if you could find out.
Maverick Blinds were the suppliers. Very helpful and quick delivery. We removed the drop down bed mattress and put a strip of aluminium to strengthen the 'plastic'. Then there was something to bolt through.
They look brilliant and can be easily adjusted to the rake of the windscreen and also easy to push up and down.

Hey up,

Easy fix .. Very little cost, I had the same problem, sunglasses make satnav screens hard to read and reduce light.

Buy a head visor with a large peak, open top, like the tennis players use ..cool to use, unlike a cap and works for whatever direction you turn your head.

You will save pounds, just hang it over your gear shift when not in use .

The ebay one is a nifty big of kit.
I do have conventional sun blinds that hinge down put at some times you are just looking through an 18" slot. Then you go around a bend and the sun comes at you from the side of the blind. All i want is one of these for an A class windscreen.

There are numerous suppliers for these you just need to find one your happy with get your measurements correct and place your order.
I know of a commercial supplier that does vinyls but the prices are eye-watering
So your probably better of to fine a uk supplier as suggested in posts 8 & 9
Good luck post pics when it's finished please

Just an update on the windscreen sun strip. Today I had a strip fitted by a chap that does many things from lithium battery systems, dash cams and window tinting. It took just over an hour to cut, contour and apply the strip inside on the screen. Not cheap at £80 but a good job.

I asked him about the MOT requirement for not encroaching into the wiper area. He said that it is a grey area as that applies to solid blocking visors which cannot be seen through. As mine can be seen through and just masks the glare it would be fine. We did not go that low.

Maybe slightly obscuring your view of low-flying aircraft. :ROFLMAO:
