Hi everyone
Currently on a campsite in Costa Brava and windscreen chipped then developed into 400mm crack on way here. Insurance co told me to drive home to get it replaced which I’m not keen on. Any one know of company that may be able to help with replacement?
Thanks

What sort of cost in France/Spain would a standard ducato windscreen, had a few cracked screens but normally just traded our T6s in. Just in case...

I waited 3 weeks for my A class screen to be replaced last year and that included the first one arriving broken.

I had a problem getting an A Class screen changed in France last year. Carglass would not touch it and they are my insurer's go-to company. I found a company called Help Parabrise and one of their founders is an ex- manager at Carglass. They organised the replacement of my screen at home in France but it took at least 2 weeks to arrange. The main man is David Pereira on telephone 06 64 35 38 96 or by mail on d.pereira@help-parabrise.fr. An original Pilote screen was fitted at a cost of €2500. My insurance picked up the whole cost and paid them direct.
Can't help thinking it would be easier to get home and have it fixed there.

I would drill a small stress relief point at the end of the crack. Your aim is to NOT drill through the glass it’s to just drill a little bit.

It works….

I forgot to say he is very helpful and speaks enough English to conduct a perfectly good conversation if your French is iffy!

Thanks for all the feedback folks, a number of people I contacted said they could help, but no one has come up with a solution. Knowing that others have driven back to the uk with a crack has made me feel more positive about doing that, so thanks for the reassurance. Will still see if I can get it replaced though, even if it’s en-route home, it’s not as if I’m busy whilst sitting in the sun with a cold beer in hand😁
Have you tried tapping your cane on the ground and saying " you shall not crack" failing that borrow the ring off frodo for a minute

Take photos from both sides and front and a note of all dimensions to send to company when you do get round ordering. Along with photos of any ID marks on the window itself.

Can you put a warning on posts like this that may be read whilst drinking coffee.

What went wrong?
Watched a spider's web of cracked glass develope...this was in a vehicle we had bought in Sydney for our extended trip there in 2002..
We noticed a crack early in the trip, which we had repaired...that didn't last long...must have been all the off roading we were doing...😕

Further to this, I found putting a piece of white paper behind any ID marks was necessary otherwise you couldn't read the writing on the photo.

We have had one company say they can supply and fit, in 12 weeks! I think we are resigned to the fact that we will have to bodge a repair and drive back to the uk. Thanks for the comments and support funsters👍

Can I suggest you call motorhome heroes now so they can source a screen and give you an estimate of how long it will take, they are insurance approved so you should only have the excess to pay.
