Just check there isn't a small hole on the underside that you can poke a thin wire (paperclip or similar) that will release a small internal latch, then you can slide the handle assembly off ?

Found the small hole and tried to release the catch but no joy. Tried also in a non damaged stay but still couldnt release the catch. Is there a knack to this?

No knack as such. What you are doing is right. Use a thin, sharp point to press into the little hole. This releases a barb inside the black plastic mount attached to the window, allowing for the mount to slide off the window. You don't need to apply much pressure into the hole to release the barb, but you may have to apply a bit of force to slide the mount off. It only slides off in one direction, so if it won't go one way, try the other.

Also, it's easier with the window held slightly open with the knob untightened thus allowing the mount's required sliding movement.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately when this first happened i tried to repair it with superglue, not a good move. Ive tried some superglue solvent, but I stilI cant release it. Not sure if this is reason why Im struggling. Im thinking it might have to be cut off. I have a multitool which might do the job but a bit nervous of tackling it this way. Might be better to find a professional.

Try using a small Allen key (1.5mm/1/16" size) it might need the stiffness to push the little prong out of the way ?

Oh dear. Superglue will definitely not have helped. You will have bonded the mount to the backing plate which is screwed to the window, preventing it from sliding off.
