So been playing on the drive in new Bailey Adamo which was dealer fitted with Avtex 915 router. Laptop finds the router but won't connect to the internet saying DNS is unavailable - any IT thoughts out there?

My initial reaction is…..’they could’ve used bigger screws’…..!!! o_O

What Wi-Fi standard does the Avtex use - 4,5 or 6….?
(802.11n, ac or ax…….?)

So at least I got lights on the router - although I couldn't see them myself - it was on the photo of the underside though.
Still getting the DNS unavailable message and out of date security warnings.......

….and have you seen this thread too?

I hadn't but I have now....seems complicated and possibly overkill kit for what I wanted (phone and laptop connectivity) - last van had a motorhome wifi rig hard wired to a Huawei mifi - dealer on the new van said he would throw in the wifi as part of the deal and he gave me the avtex.

Don’t worry about your windows 10 security warning yet.
That'll likely be because the router is being backwards compatible with WEP and/or WPA
Later you can choose to only have WPA2 supported.

When you’re on the routers webpage can you look at APN & related setup pages?
Have you the sim supplier’s requirements handy?

My router is not the same as yours so I can’t go much deeper. 🤷‍♂️ soz

Vodaphone - its the sim I took out of the Huawei mifi which worked perfectly well with same laptop on a pop out, pop in basis

Ok - so I assume it still works in the Huawei mifi (if you still have it…..?)
If it’s a 5577 mifi, can you connect it to the new antenna in your ‘van……?
I bet the connectors are different though………?

No it was a 5372 - the connectors are totally different ;-( the old rig had 2 connectors which jacked into the mifi - which in itself had a magnetic pad holding it to the router. The mifi does still work - I took it into the van first day anticipating the same set up and I was just going to be able to plug and play

It is a rebranded Teltonika RUT950, so connecting it direct to your laptop would seem to be the next thing to do as per posts #25, 28 and 29……but don’t do it tomorrow if you’ve a sore head!! ;)

Unfortunately I can't get a network cable into the laptop as it doesn't have a jack for it. I daresay I can find an adapter on the net

Yep a wild night tonight - I even thought of opening a bottle of peroni but calmed myself down

Update:
Rang Avtex helpline - they were very helpful but after trying a few options, still couldn't get any signal. Upshot is DPD are collecting it free to take back to Avtex for diagnosis/repair/replacement

I think this is the issue - just nipped out to the van to try something else. There are no lights whatsoever on the router.
However, the router is now discoverable on the laptop and says it is connected and secure - but navigate to a web page and the DNS not available notification returns. I tried turning the firewall off temporarily but makes no difference. Also, for a couple of seconds a notification about the router security settings being out of date and being phased out flashed up and disappeared.
Plan B = reset router tomorrow
Plan C = call avtex customer support
Hi, we have an Avtex 985 with a Govivo sim and have had problems too, but with Govivo, not the router. It works perfectly with a giffgaff sim in the second slot.
I've had terrible problems getting any technical support from Govivo and the manual is useless for anything other than the basics. Strangely the phone number for Govivo is the same as Avtex!?
I'm going to speak to our dealer next as they fitted it and it came with the Govivo sim.

Oh well - better luck with the next/repaired one……! ;)
(Be sure to let us know what happens….. )
So it's working....yay!
DPD collected it Monday last week and it was delivered back Friday. No note from Avtex as to whether they found any fault or had tested it. No email, text from them.
Decided to give it a go and reinstalled without fixing it to the wall - dead as a dodo....
Then I realised that the installer at the dealers had connected the 2 cables to the router the wrong way round - swapped them over and we have internet!
