Why?

So had I been one of the motorhomes that arrived before you should I have avoided taking a lakeside pitch just in case I may later have wanted to use my screens and therefore offend someone who didn't want to use screens that might arrive after me. And had I taken a lakeside pitch should I have avoided using screens to demonstrate that my choice of pitch was fully justified.

Should I have avoided using the chemical emptying point or any other facility in case you wanted to use it and my prior use might cause you a short delay.

Actually they hadn't prevented you from seeing anything, it was simply that you arrived too late to tale a lakeside pitch.

Why are you moaning?

I asked the question why would people park there and then obscure the view?

I didn’t say they shouldn’t park there.

I didn’t say I wanted the view myself. In fact we deliberately parked on the inner field with no view of the lake as it is nearer to the town and my wife has difficulty in walking.

I didn’t say that people shouldn’t use silver screens if they wanted to. I simply asked why they would pick such a beautiful view and then obscure it.

We arrived at 14:30 hrs in plenty of time to pick any pitch we wanted, why did you assume that we had arrived late?

What was the relevance of chemical emptying to my question?

Your post is one assumption after another, and all of them are wrong!

However, I admit it may have been better had I used the word “puzzling” rather than “annoying” in my initial post.

It was rather silly to have made the original post as it is non of your business how others chose to spend their time.

I have just bought screens both internal and external I have painted a scene of a Caribbean beach on the inside of mine so the view is always tropical ?

Thank you that very useful comment.

So on a discussion Forum, discussions are forbidden? Or are you just being deliberately rude?

In view of the negative and aggressive tone of some of the responses to what I thought was a fairly innocent post I will refrain from any further posting on this thread.

Why? Why don't you direct the question regarding the three night rule in writing to HQ?

You might even get them to instruct the "jobsworths" at the site to relax the rule at times of low demand.

You never know it might just lead to a more productive outcome than three of four pages of opinions from people who have NO influence in getting the rule changed.

And as to people who leave their silver screens up, well they should be .........

I agree. Time to start charging deposits like the CCC. The popular sites like York and Bristol are plagued with this blocking. We booked York months in advance but friends were told a few days later they were fully booked. When we visited there were 3 or 4 vacant pitches.
I’ve had that conversation with CMC about deposits, but they’re not interested citing costs, complexity etc. It’s bloody annoying that you can never get on Baltic Wharf as it’s an ideal stop for me when travelling up country from Cornwall. It’s living on borrowed time, so largely academic now, but similar problems elsewhere from tentative block booking. The only reason I stay with CMC is insurance and other discounts but that’s probably because I’m lazy and need to research alternatives. CMC sites are getting very expensive and Forum is from the dark ages (technology and anti MH tuggers).

If I buy one of these and fit it back-to-front it may add an extra dimension to my 3-day love making sessions by the lake

Don't join either club the saving on membership fees will give you at least a fortnight away. They can't match tunnel or ferry prices using Tesco vouchers you don't need their breakdown cover now normally included with van insurance if not cheaper else where their own sites are vastly over priced and anyone can apply for a camping exemption certificate of you want to runs rally ??

I'm with the OP....just don't get why you'd park up in the most picturesque places around Europe, then close yourself down. May as well stay on the drive, the views the same and it's a lot cheaper per night! Went to lovely Lake Como a couple of years ago and a huge rig turned up opposite us, took up two pitches, then spent the rest of the day getting their satellite signal just right, closed the door and we never saw them outside again! They'd obviously asked for a lake side pitch as well. Very strange. I have commented before about people desperate for Sky & 1000's of Gb of data when abroad, but got shot down in flames! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I have heard similar excuses but think they are totally lame. The CCC manages and has taken steps to solve the problem, so why can’t the CMC.

But talking of visiting the Lake District we used to love the parking at Millers Field usually with a meal and film at Zefferellis and loads of other spending in the town. I believe it was closed down by the council because..........because. Or is it secretely still operating (PM me if you know something)
Anyone know of anything similar or pubstops with access to Ambleside. It's just too far on bus/taxi from Keswick

Fair enough, however your op did come over as moaning and I don’t think it was just me who thought that. I mean, if you weren’t moaning why post In the first place.

Forgot to say I'm taking my sky dish with me as well :LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL: Chill out boys who cares what others are doing. Get on with your own lives. It's been said all week on social media...... Be kind or be Quiet
