I’m asking this because I cannot fathom how to live without a table. Sad isn’t it 😆 Eating, playing cards, puzzles, to rest a tablet on, even just to stick your drink on …..

Maybe I’m missing something because we are newbies on the search for our first motorhome. A lot seem to have the double sofa thing going on which obv converts, and no table in the middle. Maybe there’s a way of sneaking in a table in a van that looks like it has none? Can you adapt the floor to hold one or magic one out of a side pocket or pull one down from the ceiling or something? I don’t mean this to come across as rude, if folk can do without a table then all well and good, we each have our priorities and it certainly opens up more in the way of options when looking to buy (I think🤔 )

Well, the standard fixed table in our Hymer is just about big enough for the two of us.

We do have a 9kg table in the cave for al fresco dining, and two drinks tables for pre-dinner cocktails.

My large table is hidden in the van sliding door. It's too big for my every day needs though so i made up a smaller coffee table which i can also eat off.

Got 2 in my apache 1 standard pole and top in rear lounge / bed and 2nd one I fitted in mid bed to suit pole and top extended top as it was too low by screwing 3 layers 19m ply forming a block under top and as we all know 57mm can make all the difference 😜😜😜

According to DVLA.. If it does not have a table or means to have one.. it is not a Motor Caravan
This only matters if you want to change the body type on your V5C to 'Motor Caravan' - in other words, it doesn't matter at all.

The V5C 'body type' classification is pretty much irrelevant. It has nothing to do with insurance or speed limits, for example. The relevant speed limit legislation only refers to what the vehicle is used for - if you use it as a motor home, it's a motor home, and has the higher speed limits. The DVLA has clarified this endlessly, even in FOI requests. I had the same insurance company throughout my conversion, and they started me off as 'van under conversion', or something similar, and there was never any issue with body type.

Interesting discussion. I'd like some advice. I have a 'new to me van'. The table system is floor post and table top stored until needed. Love it but not the WOBBLE. Any ideas for improving the stability of the system.

In our 6 metre van we have 3 tables! The fold-up one which came with the van which can cater for 6 on the two bench sofas, a small 18 inch square fold away table which can be in place in less than a minute which we use for general use inside and out which is just big enough for coffee and cake, and we have a larger blue plastic table (see photo!) which we use outside if we have a bit more than a coffee and is big enough to play our favourite game Rummikub :whistle2:
Between them they weigh very little with the two bigger ones sliding into the wardrobe and the small one slides in behind the drivers seat. It all works well(y)

Our stowaway big table in our Autotrail rarely gets used as it is too big and cumbersome to get around. We use a Bean Bag table for eating
Amazon product ASIN B0779G45D8
to hold the tablet on we use
Amazon product ASIN B0921WSQLV
and we have the lightweight folding table for playing games on and eating outside. It is lightweight and folds flat into a nice fitting bag.

Our Burstner has a fixed folding table. Folded generally to give room to manoeuvre but you can use half of it. Just get it out full when eating. It's a bit tight around the bench seats though! Fortunately only 2 of us. Also it can slide forward back and side to side which is useful.

We have a fold up in the garage for outdoor use.
