Why do we loose ITV on satellite when more east ?

I don’t t understand why as we move east , currently Strasbourg , that all the main terrestrial channels work fine but not itv - non of the itv channels . Surely it the same satellite that it’s all being beamed through ??

I dont think so. There are 3 main Satellites. - Astra 2E, Astra 2F and Astra 2G.

I don't know which channels are are on which satellite, but either way Strasbourg is approaching the eastern edge of the UK spot beam - which is slightly different for each satellite.

The smaller your satellite dish, the more channels you will lose. Many of the footprint guides are for an 80cm dish which is about as big as you will get on a motorhome roof. Our Telesat is distinctly smaller.

Oohhh we have a big one ;-) . But thanks for the response - it’s not really an issue as we stream live from 4g/5g anyway if we need to I just wondered why it happened

I lost all my ITV channels the other day in the UK. Had to do a retune so it could be that. I think there were changes.

It's a weird thing. At the moment I am in southern Spain, if I tune the sat receiver to my home area ( north west) I get all the channels except C4 if I tune the receiver to London area I lose itv but gain C4.

Yes, it looks weired. All of the channels for all of the regions are all in there somewhere, but giving it the postcode tells it to select only the relevant ones for the postcode region.

What size dish do you need to get a signal that far south
80cm only just squeezes reception from UK spot beam in Northern Spain.
No idea if ITV is available coz I'm far too snobby to watch it
