Why am I so slow?

An interesting thread/topic is this one! I too am now ‘cured’ of the ‘need for speed’.

I was fortunate enough that I raced cars for seven years and was an avid track dayer either side of the racing. I’ve run M5’s as my daily drivers for 15 years, my last being a 740bhp one yet here I am now, happy tootling along in the MH at 54-56 mph and the only car I have now is a Toyota Aygo which is usually ‘in tow’!

What a change in the last three years!

The last M5 beast! ❤️View attachment 638220

I'm well jel. The M5 i recently sold was only a mere 560 bhp (2014 model)

Ok…
I have a Merc 4x4 that I have bounced off the speed limiter.
I have a 1400cc motorcycle that I have done insane speeds on..

Why do I drive my MoHo so slow?

I’m more than happy to spend all day at 60-65 mph in my MoHo - It just feels good.

Am I the only one, or does everyone else slow down when driving the MoHo?

Yay, another M5 fan! The last two M5’s I had were the F10’s, the one in the picture I actually kept for just over three years from new in Dec 2015… I did 45k miles post tuning to 740 bhp, had it serviced at main dealers with interim oil changes I did myself, it ran faultlessly.. very sad to let go of that one! All M5’s are epic daily cars. I actually liked the E60 V10 almost as much as the F10’s. I did 107k miles in that E60 before I sold it. Original shells and all 🫤 Hayward and Scott exhaust and 8250 revs and it was just epic. Equally loved my E39 too, but looking back it was a little ‘tame’, but at the time, was a very capable M5.

M5 are just the best cars ‘all round’ cars ever. ❤️❤️

Coming round the M25 today, clockwise from M1, I had to maintain around 65-67 to stay safe, especially with all the foreign lorries and LHD.

Once I got a bit of clean space, it was 62 ish to keep em behind me, until I hit the next batch. Tankers appeared to be the worst, followed by those car delivery trucks. Talk about lane hoggers and totally refused to move into the left for miles and miles, even though it was clear.

Should have gotten the company names and billed em for the excess derv 🙄😀

With the price of diesel at record high and the aerodynamics of a brick lucky to get 24 mpg anything that helps ward off bankruptcy has to be worth a try.
Not long back from 2 weeks in France and a week meandering up through England.
On the long stretches had the Cruise on about 59mph (fiat CC is by touch not numbers)and got 29mpg.
Not worried about the need for speed, didn't add much to journey times and saved on the fuel front.
Still had some spare 🐎 if needed to pass the lorries playing "rolling Road blocks 🚫 " in the UK.

Get up enough speed you can take them all with you ;)

No, that's irresponsible. Speed kills.

Stay at a safe cruising speed and get one of these fitted to clear the way for yourself and your fellow motorists.

Lower speeds means lower emissions, so better for the environment too.

Below 45 mph emissions go up and above 65 the same thing oh and I’m advocate of noisy exhausts saves lives ;)

My Ducato speedo goes to 120mph - is this a 3.0l thing or are they all the same?

I've alway driven at what is comfortable for the vehicle i'm driving, so between 50 and 60 in the motorhome, however although the motorbike is probably good for 130+ I tend to stick to the speed limits these days, partly because I want to keep my license but also as it's unfaired it becomes uncomfortable to ride at higher speeds ( i have a high coefficient of drag) :giggle:

Most drivers expect to get held up by motorhomes - let's get out there and not disappoint them 👍
Careful you could get mistaken for a fuel protester and get arrested ;)

70 mph is the fastest...On the highway.BUSBY.
All I can say is I have heard my exhaust making noises like a loaf of bread as it cools after re-entry, tyres warm and brake discs not quite glowing but not far off ;)
