I Make Schoolboy Errors!
The rubberised seals on the side sliding door on my PVC are sticking to the door paintwork internally. After a few days of non use the door can only be opened by pushing from inside to break the adhesion.

I could clean with say methylated spirits and then apply silicon spray, but would the silicon then simply acquire more gunge?

Any suggestions please?

What about the lubricant that Thetford manufacture for lubricating the seal on their cassette toilet units ?

Just a thought; it's designed to be used on rubber, and I suspect it wouldn't harm door seals ?

I’ve got some of that and also tried it on the door seal but still sticking. I think that I haven’t been able to clean off the residue that is on the painted surface that it closes to. Anyone - What should I use to get that off?

White spirit, then methylated spirit, or panel wipe.

A product called Sticky Stuff remover from Toolstation works for me. 😱
