Who is crafting their Christmas Decs???

Have you got a Pom Pom maker ?
Oh yes, forgot about that. I do have a Pom pom maker onboard.
Toilet rolls and your fancy pens
Fancy Pens will be used - for the first time.
I know you have wine corks.......
nope not a single one!
Two made in the Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea with Dawn @Mousy
Those are way beyond my pay grade!
we did this two years ago at totana don't you remember our silver twigs and pom poms
I do remember, what a great Christmas that was.
You could adapt the following idea to any wood that you can scrounge.....you could also make flat so that it's not in the way since space is at a premium.
You could use costume jewellery from a charity shop to decorate it.......
Great ideas Hazel. I love the drift wood Christmas tree. We are off to the beach this morning and will have a little scavenge around.

Thanks for all the idea. We might as well keep the thread going to show off all your talents.

I have a Christmas (red white and green) version ...

I am knitting all presents and decorations this year.
We want photos
ditto, I’m already looking forward to seeing the results

Anthea M i used to have a lovely empty tequila bottle which I was saving for putting lights in but I made the mistake of not putting it out of sight in my crafting room which he never enters so it was thrown away ?

I made several lots of Christmas bunting for us and all the girls a few years ago, and a children’s Christmas tree out of a traffic cone (ambulancekidd) covered in green felt. I sewed green triangles on it to represent branches and buttons to hang decorations on. Then I made lots of felt decs, very similar to those created by cliffandger under Mousy ’s instructions.
When I get it out of the attic I’ll take pictures.

That’s a lot of gin drunk!!!?
Not guilty Anthea ! One of my BUG girls gets the bottles from the pub she plays Uke at on a Monday. Apparently the green Tanqueray bottle is very sought after - and she’s got me enough pink ones to fill our Rob and Catie’s wedding reception room!

She’s also emptied the stock of her ‘Chinese Light Importer’ as she calls them! And has to wait until January for the next shipment!

I have decided not to buy any decorations for the van this year, to use any plastic if I don't already own it, or generally contribute to the crap we throw away sometime in January.

I intend to create my own from whatever I can forage, find or skip rat. The idea behind this, is that I have nowhere to store Christmas decs in the van, so will have to throw them away after the festive season.

So, show us your home made decs and give me some ideas, please?
You’ll be shocked to hear the answer is yes. I’ll see if I can find some pics of last year’s. I had a POM POM fetish ;)

I’ve made a couple of ornaments for this year.

Gingerbread. No storage issues (except for the bigger trousers I tend to in January). I have done of these and fill them with alsorts. Sweets, sprayed silver acorns, candles, cinnamon sticks, dried orange slices, white ‘snow’ pom-poms. I decorate for birthdays, valentines, autumn and Easter with them too.

We are making our own crackers for the table. I have bought a kit with templates (recyclable), hats & jokes. I don't want the throw away "gifts" any more.
We’ve done that for a number of years. I do a secret Santa style draw in November and we all have to buy a present for the person we get. The price limit is £5 and it must fit into a cracker. The grandsprogs cracker presents are provided by their parents.

Have you got a Pom Pom maker ?
Yes, two circles of cardboard with smaller circles cut out of the middles, just like in the olden days

Here's the traffic cone kids' Christmas tree I made with some of the decorations I made for it hung on the buttons

Resurrected my silver pyramid.

And finished with this

Three long, and three small canes, a length of tinsel, pompoms (could use natural items instead) and solar lights sent to me by a lovely Funster friend.

Some great ideas here.

I can't take the credit for this one I bought at a craft fair but I'm going to try making some small ones.

Upcycled buttons pinned to a sphere form, sold with a warning that its not a toy etc.

I'm also definitely going to mess about with pom poms! Who knew they were so versatile??
