Who is best at home deliveries?

Tesco has worked fine for us
I am in the shielding group (hopeful temporarily)
Getting set up took a bit of time, this seemed to be due to Mrs Gs name being used in the past for delivery's and mine on the list being past on from Gp / gov
We got a slot ok ounce things were in place am or pm slot with time confirmed on day of delivery but I think its patchy from area to area
Friend in East Lothian couldn't get any slots with them.
We got everything on order with one substitute. Delivery was a bit late at 10:15pm but its not as if we were waiting in specially
Sainsburys also contacted me by e mail re being able to deliver but I have not tried them for a slot.
Puddleduck we are a lot further away from our nearest store than I think you are? Peebles would be closest but about twenty miles I have seen their vans about here delivering

We had two deliveries from Tesco. They not very good on substitutions. Also had two click and collects from Sainsbury’s, same again with subs not very good. We both 71 but couldn’t be classed as relevant category for deliveries. Strange.

In your Tesco order listing you can select either, the whole order or any individual item to be substituted, or not. So if any sub will do allow it, if your fussy and want a specific item and could manage if you got none, stop the substitution

Weirdly after saying i have been unable to get a delivery slot at Waitrose and can’t even register on the other sites I was awake at 5.30 this morning and couldn‘t sleep , I get up at 6am anyway which is annoying, my body clock has never reset. I had a look and there was a slot for 6-7pm tomorrow. After that all marked unavaiable. I have grabbed it to test my theory that once you’ve got your first it makes it easier to get another.

I thought we ought to be in a system in case we were ill and had to quarantine, also if darling daughter is allowed back from Bangladesh in the future she will hopefully be allowed to quarantine with us for 2 weeks which means we will have to. Nick might be able to put up with 2 weeks without fresh fruit and veg but Claire ,Mikey and I can’t! Our bodies are temples haha. I don’t really like online grocery shopping as I prefer to choose my own.

My sister is isolating a long way away from us (so I cant take shopping to her). She doesn't have internet access yet so I've been trying to help from afar. She has been very happy with the food boxes I've ordered from Morrisons. You dont get to choose the contents but delivery is by courier next day.

I havent seen the contents myself so cannot vouch for the value for money, she did say that branded goods are included, not just the supermarket "Value" range.

It's all a bit strange
Mrs. G was on earlier for a slot for the end of next week and was able to get one ok with Tesco
None for after 15th we assume it's because a lot of people its their pay date?

We have another delivery from Iceland booked for Wednesday evening had booked a morning slot but it expired because I dithered around with the shopping basket, which I had done on Sunday, so had to rebook for a later slot. No issues. We can edit the list up to 11pm Tuesday. To confirm the delivery a payment has to be made which has been done.

Sainsbury's wont' let us get a slot with a message we stating aren't recognised as vulnerable

I've had email from Sainsurys saying I am vulnerable but when I try place an order I get a message saying I am not recognised as such on the delivery system. I get a generic email back when I try to contact them.

We do do click and collect with Sainsbury but the gluten free in Kelso is limited to say the least. They are cutting back on the range of goods and the "free from" range has dropped dramatically. I wonder if they will make that permanent :( It was limited before and almost defunct now.

I'm reluctant to use the local health food shop after they told me semolina and spelt were gluten free (both are wheat).

I just tried to order a Morrisons Gluten Free Box ...... they are unable to deliver to us as we are out of their delivery area.

After the problems with Asda it will be C&C from Sainsbury.

I had one click & collect with Sainsburys early in lockdown because it was all I could get and that was fine.
As for the rest, forget it, I just don't bother anymore.
I wish Iceland/Food warehouse would deliver here, but they don't come this far out.

We had to phone re Tesco as it was Mrs Gs name they had on their system and they had to manually attach mine to the account (was a bit of a wait to get through though)
What we havens been able to get from them Mrs Gs used the local Aldi which has been better organised re spacing etc but that's been a fortnightly visit

I registered with Tesco sometime before Christmas (not sure why.. ).

Have been able to get slots quite easy, so am well pleased... particularly as I hate shopping in supermarkets.

Also. at the same time registered with ASDA, no chance of any slots with them, it must be about where you live I suppose.

Cannot get a slot for home delivery or pay and collect at Tesco Sainsburys or Morrisons. BUSBY.

My next specialist food delivery is with the ancient Greek Herald of the Gods ....... it will either arrive in the next day or two because someone fancies a run out here in either a van or a car or it will sit somewhere for a week or more. At least it's all stuff that won't go off fast.

We usually get a lady with a Volvo who seems to mostly cover the Borders

It's usually a rather frail and elderly gentleman here and we have to lift the parcels out of the car for him.

Morrisons -- have those who use Morrisons checked their bill for the substituted items. The only C&C that we have done yet from them didn't have the substituted items included on the invoice and to my knowledge have never been charged.
Seems like a good deal for the customer if that is the norm, I will check again on Friday when we do another C&C.

Sainsbury give a voucher off for the difference in price if you are substituted a more expensive item.

We have never had home deliveries for groceries but about 10 years ago I did buy a sofa on line with Sainsburys, so that meant I had an account with them. They are the closest supermarket to us so the wife tend to use them a lot, although she kept moaning about them. Not anymore.

I just could not get any delivery slots at all when I first tried early in the lockdown. So I phoned them and managed to get through after about an hours wait. Turned out to be a very productive hour. Told them that we were both over 70 so in the at risk category and were self isolating. Very helpful guy took my details and said he would fill in the form so we got priority, but it may take a day or two to be registered.

Result was a couple of days later I started seeing some slots come available when I checked. They go quickly but if I check at different times I can find them about a week or so in advance. I don't think they offer them any longer, so as to stop people just booking. Just tried again before posting this and they have got slots available on Monday to Wednesday next week. We tend to shop every couple of weeks and we have just had our 3rd delivery yesterday evening.

So I think they are giving priority to us oldies and others on the government's "at risk" list.

Yep. And if you are not happy with the substitutions they give you, supposedly you can fill in an in line form and they will give you a voucher for the full cost. That is probably cheaper than having somebody going through your picked items and removing what you don't want. We tried it the first time yesterday because we were not happy with some of the substitutions on yesterday's delivery. We will see what happens. Wonder if they will want them back and how we can do that. One of substitutes was frozen so we put it our freezer just in case.

Get another Morrison's delivery toorrow, watch this space.

Iceland delivered today 6.13pm ,had a text to say we were the first drop and it was bang on time. We had been notified by e mail that the long life milk was out of stock, but it was a back up so no issues with that. It brought the bill just below £35 for free delivery but no charges made as it was their deduction. All frozen items together in one bag and no thawing observed which was my main concern. The fresh milk was still cold. All use by dates good.
Limited choices but overall good prices and good delivery. Our 3rd delivery now.
Will continue to use, as we don't need to go out, park up etc..

well out of a large order I got 11 items, 2 which should have been cancelled and 2 substitutes, no milk, no fruit, no fish, no bread, only veg was onions which i had thought I had removed from the order. Never again. it's bank holiday tomorrow too. really don't want to go shopping at all but it looks like I will have to we'll be ok till beginning of the week apart from bread think only have 1 days worth left in the freezer.
