Which way shall we face, dear?

Downloaded a series of Brian Cox cosmology programs on to MacBook with IPlayer before our month in France. Never got around to watching any of them.

We've had a TV in the van for years, but as we spend most of the time going to festivals where the entertainment is live we've never watched it.

We don’t have a tv but my hubby is obsessed with parking away from any wind. At a campsite you don’t have many options …. Back in it or forward in but in a field …. Oh my goodness. We can drive around for several minutes before he thinks we may be levellish and then he decides to get out and chuck some grass in the air for wind direction. Then if we go again, looking for that elusive flat spot.

Satellite dish on my van is playing up, saying something about the LNB not working. I'm not sure I can be bothered to fix it, I think I've used it twice in 9 years! We have some DVDs for the kids but even they only really get used on long trips if they're bored, give them something to watch whilst we're travelling.
How do you know its playing up if you never watch it 🤔

Ive got 2 TVs in mine 🤣🤣 but i live in it , on my own with 3 dogs that only ever talk about bones , shit and birds.

Many times, when working in the ambulance service, I’d collect or drop off patients at residential homes and some of the places were dire. I remember most of all the pervasive stink of urine and the expressionless faces in the lounge ‘watching’ daytime Inanity TV. I felt pity that this was now a highlight of their day and have hated (and never watched) daytime TV ever since. Now I’m older and am closer to a time when I might need residential care, what fate awaits me?

We sleep in a north-south direction & try to have the evening sun at our door. Great fun sometimes getting it right 👍🇮🇪

Id rather listen to the dogs, more interest than the shit thats on tv. This afternoon swmbo is watching tennis, Id rather watch a plank warp.

Don't worry about the dogs, it may be which direction do the Lions want to look.....I'm worried they might escape..that scratching pole is 2m high.

If you were to travel south in the winter months a tv is essential as the nights can be very long and dark😊
Do you not have any books, why go away and watch the total rubbish on an electronic gold fish tank. Just watched a Dutch tugger pitch up, the normal hour to pitch the thing , and then over two hours to set up a satellite dish, it is 32 degs, sunny and all they then did was go inside to watch rubbish.

Each to their own, we have 2 tvs in our sprinter van conversion. Never on in the day abroad, but great in the UK when the weather is bad. Regularly retire to bed to watch a film.

Your attitude (to others’ lifestyle choices) is really amusing and one of the reasons many of us like to be away from others’ prying eyes. You choose to pickle in the sun, which of course could give you cancer. Do you drink alcohol, smoke, eat unhealthy food? Life’s much easier if, rather than look for others’ ‘faults’, you just get on with your own.

Does he move the van if the wind gets up or changes direction? 😝

Whatever happened to books ?? We always take loads with us and absolutely love being tucked up in our cosy beds having a good read. On the subject of sat dishes - we watched a chap once who, having parked his caravan and put up his awning spent the next half hour trying to get a signal while Mrs shouted from inside the van. Finally, the best location was found. He then took a large knife and CUT A HOLE in the awning for the aerial to go through !!!

Nobody often sees us 'setting up' as we are usually alone, any way it is 3 min max. 'throttle to bottle':-

Me: Handbrake, change gas, table and chairs out

She: Change fridge, corkscrew, glasses.

What else is there to do?

Oh yes, sit and relax, adds 5 seconds.

I don't care much for the TV but my Mrs can't be without it. Saying that we're just back from 8 days in the NW Highlands during which time we had rain for the best part of 6 days and was glad of the TV if only for the weather forecast!
We carry a compass which not only tells us which direction the rain is coming from but where the sun will be if we should be lucky enough to get a break in the weather!
The compass also helps in conjunction with the app my wife uses to find out which direction the strongest TV signal is coming from.
It never lets her down (y)

You change your gas and your fridge every trip 😱
