Hopefully last question regards solar installation?
what are the best screws/bolts for securing the panel to the side/corner plastic mounts.
I’ve searched and thought there might be better solutions to self tappers ?

Hi Peter - do you know what would be the appropriate sika fixing for an ali bracket to a steel roof (or where I could find out)?

Thanks
Sorry, I am not going to be able to help you. Neither of my roofs were steel. One was aluminium and the other was GRP. I can't remember which Sikaflex I used on the one that I did as it was about 6 years ago.

Suggest you start a thread with a suitable title so that those with PVCs can help.

Sikaflex make many types of adhesives and sealants under their brand names for all sorts of applications. Each has a number to differentiate it from the others. Best to get the specific one designed for the application and surfaces you are using it for.

Sika 252 is very popular for fixing solar panels, thats what I'm using. Or if you want belt and braces 292 is supposed to be even stronger.

A couple of lengths of self adhesive trunking and a couple of 90 deg joints (also self adhesive)would make all the difference.
I wouldn't use self-adhesive trunking it will lift, it's designed for indoor use. Better to use standard trunking and fix it with Sika.

That comment was quite unnecessary. I trust you are enjoying being ignored by so many?
John
Only the over sensitive.....the comment was advisory as if those sticky pads come of the cable is going to be flapping about and potentially dangerous 🤷‍♂️
That and the way the wires go through the roof that I'm surprised doesn't leak

Its called constructive criticism

I certainly wouldn't object when people point such things out to me.

P.s I dont really care who ignores me ...ive thicker skin than that

When I contacted Sikaflex, they wanted to know what type of ABS plastic the brackets were made of - no help whatsoever. They were much more helpful when I changed to aluminium angle, so on their advice I used Sikaflex 291 and for my own peace of mind doubled up with tech screws! Panels were bolted to angle using M6 bolts and rivnuts.
