The Japanese make some great vehicles, unfortunately light commercials, on which most motorhomes are based, are not their strong point.Next time I look to buy a new van I will see if there are any Japanese makes
Yes thanks for explaining that yes I agree you would expect better quality materials but it doesn’t stop them being cobbled together and as you have said if it leaks it won’t rot ,but you end up with an indoor swimming pool !What I am trying to say is that 10 times the price isn't 10 times better built, but better for sure
Agreed. Lots in NZ based on Isuzu, Toyota etc, badly made motorhomes on reliable but very agricultural running gear and god help you in a collision. The Japanese make some great vehicles, unfortunately light commercials, on which most motorhomes are based, are not their strong point.
If you had ever had the misfortune to travel in or drive a Japanese LCV, you would never in a million years consider one as a motorhome base.
Still don't think you re getting this.Yes thanks for explaining that yes I agree you would expect better quality materials but it doesn’t stop them being cobbled together and as you have said if it leaks it won’t rot ,but you end up with an indoor swimming pool !
So I suppose that’s a step up .No the point I was trying to make is what ever the budget the not so bargain basement of my end to the infinity and beyond of others people should not have to put up with built in obsolescence. A new vehicle should not leave a factory with faults already there and have it repaired under a so called warranty.
Oh why is thatStill don't think you re getting this.
Not sure that I would call £75k for a Hymer Campervan, a budget German van, but I suppose if you put it up against a VW with no toilet or washroom, then it is .Ours is British built very good quantity better than than the budget German vans Hymer etc
I might be cheating a bit it’s a Welsh made Fifth WheelWhat British vans are we comparing to Hymers ?
Confused.com I would guessIt would be nice to know if the OP has found any of the information posted helpful.
Most layouts are available despite budget and there is always second hand. Rather than budget being the restriction, it's space. We've now realised what we're prepared to compromise on. There is always compromise with a motorhome. For example, we won't compromise on having comfortable beds but we're not so bothered about a spacious bathroom. When you consider how long you spend in the bathroom, space is better spent in your living area. Quality is a different matter.Agree entirely but not sure if it’s possible to achieve desired layout within budget and build quality? Have said before had chausson 630 ideal layout and budget for us but failed on build.
Sorry about that. No further repetition, deviation or hesitation chapsI get the just of it ... German vans are better than British ... apparantly?
Still not got answers to my OP. I thought with the vans I listed would be enough to give an idea of the layout I was looking for. Was looking for comments on MH that meets these spec's.
Thanks for the input, it's been interesting
