To get the new bikes and bike rack in the garage I've had to stack chairs. tables etc. vertically against the back wall of the garage. Currently tied with bungees but not the easiest to stretch and hook on. Also too much give. I'm looking at cam-lock straps with hooks on or lightweight ratchet straps with hooks. Before I order anything, what do you use and why?

I prefer ratchet straps for most things. However I am going to kit out the wall in the garage with straps, retained each end with screws and washers. Then join and tighten with plastic side buckles. Simply press together to latch and pull the loose end of the webbing. Should be ideal for lightweight items like tables

Provided those plastic clips don't snap. I've had at least two go and one was only on very light duty.

I was very much like that but now I'm at an age when money has got easier and work, harder.
I am much the same but I have a garage/ workshop full of useful materials in stock. I'm always wanting to find a simple cheap alternative to all engineering problems --but mostly -for nowt :drinks:

I'm a bit averse to that kind of plastic clip as we had them on Fiamma awning tie down straps and one broke after only a few uses so replaced both with ratchet straps. Also had one on another smaller strap which broke in the same place. (the two spring pins). Probably ROK clips are better though.
They do make straps without the plastic hook, they have a loop instead so that you can thread them through any other available loop or strut.

Cambuckle straps fitted and do half the job. The only ones I could find with hooks are 25mm which are quite massive, big hooks big cambuckles.

Problem I've found is that when going straight across something rather than around it, it's hard to get the straps taught enough to stop the item from moving a bit.

My solution has had to be to stack items to make the stack thicker so that the strap goes around rather than just across. e.g. bungee the table to the wall and then strap a chair in front of the nwo thicker stack.

Sorry for so many words when a picture would hav been better.
