Which Dealers Impress & Why?

West Country Motorhomes in Somerset have been great to deal with.

You need to work hard to get the best deal available but their after sales service is excellent. They try that bit harder to understand any problems and rectify them first time. We have also found their workshop personnel are usually happy to give advice via telephone to help sort out any problems or lack of understanding of equipment and services.

We have frequently bought from them for over thirty years.

I would be very pleased if I could deal with the MH manufacturers - they design and build them and know the base vehicles.

The dealers only gain secondhand knowledge and how many of each model do they get through their hands before the models change?

Cut out the dealers' commissions and it pays for a trip to the factory for any warranty work.

Just my view.

Cotswold Motorhomes for me. Absolutely no pressure tactics. In fairness we’d already done our homework so knew what we wanted. Excellent communication and dealt with everything on our snagging list without any quibbles and in fact did more than expected. Very thorough handover and very patient in answering what were no doubt some very naive questions from us as first time motorhomers. Have been very impressed with Richard who we’ve dealt with throughout our recent purchase.

Luckily for them no one asked my opinion, but hey ho, they please some, but not all👍
Petroleumblownapart if I ever meet you I’ll tell you why over a beer🍻🍻
Just cos you never got a cup of tea and biscuits from them is not grounds for a bad review 😂😂

We had good service from Wokingham Motorhomes
Wish we were in your camp there but our experiences differ somewhat.
Before Becks finished business , I tried in 2017 to buy a Deftleffs from them the daughter of the owner was very nice but very business like we could have done a deal with her, until, her husband entered the conversation,as I had another quote for same spec. I tried with Becks to buy fairly local, husband said if you buy from them don't expect is to do any warranty, his aggressive manner prompted me to say you have a problem and my wife and I walked away.

As I said in the opposite thread, Becks in Norfolk and Johns Cross in East Sussex were both very good and recommended by many funsters. Unfortunately both are no longer trading. Our present motorhome bought 8 years ago from Becks is our keeper so I have no experiences of buying from dealers after that. But I do have a couple of recommendations of businesses used for repairs and services.

For the motor and chassis side Tomsetts outside of Sittingbourne in Kent are very good and not expensive. I have used them for the last few years for both services and MOTs. The owner is a motorhomer.

For the habitation areas Reliance near Chichester are very good. And their parts man, Chris, is an ace at tracking down hard to find parts. Last summer he found me the correct floor hatch for my particular Hymer model in about 10 minutes! Got the price from Hymer the next day and I ordered it there and then and it was delivered within a month. I am still waiting for Southdowns to phone me back with the part number and cost!
Agree with your recommendations - we too used Becks and Johns Cross and would have continued using them if we changed our van but alas no more.

We have been using Tomsetts for all our vans over the last 15 years or so and have often recommended them on here.

We are very happy with Premium at Bawtry, lucky really as they are the only dealer for our van of choice, we should have flown out to pick it up from the factory but Covid messed that up, they pulled out all the stops to get it transported to the UK then did the hand over as soon as we had a break in lockdown, no extra cost although I did offer. The service department are spot on with their product knowledge and workmanship.

Would be buy from them again?, YES(y)

Southwest Motorhomes at Ilminster, kept me fully informed whilst waiting for delivery of my Malibu during the difficult Covid period, always friendly and polite, only a couple of small problems since taking delivery which they have sorted out quickly and cheerfully. Also Highbridge Motorhomes, before purchasing from Southwest Motorhomes I had reserved one through them and paid a deposit, after changing our minds they returned our deposit in full without any gripes, again very friendly service and if they didn’t know the answer they found out for me.

Pleased to hear this because that is where my Malibu Van is coming from.

Had positive experiences with Premier (once) and Southdowns (twice)
