All the gear, and no idea!
As above, I have a few years to retirement and all around I see on the news various countries turning to Rats##t (you could visit Ukraine more than a few years ago) and I’m hoping the list of countries to visit doesn’t get any narrower (the 90 days crap is bad enough).
So looking where I would love to visit when I retire and is on the edge of my comfort zone is Georgia via Türkiye, what’s yours?

Like you I see Georgia being on the edge, more so over the last year or so.

Had a great visit in 2011, I wanted to visit Chernobyl before the new sarcophagus was moved in place. It was a bit Wild West in those days, on the way there I was offered a chance to be ‘suited up’ and visit the control room for $1500!!

About 10 years ago I spoke to a Belgian guy in morocco with a rear engined vario and he told me about previous trips involving Lebanon, Jordan and N Africa. I would love to see libya but doubt its going to become possible.

The other one is the silk road but again difficult due to religious bollox! However we did meet a couple from S Korea this year

Georgia is a lovely country , the roads can be a bit precarious but otherwise its a nice place to visit. And it's Christian too so no calls to prayer etc. I'd return there to see more of it but it's a distance away and I found out last time getting back from Georgia to Turkey with 4 dogs isn't easy. But I'd recommend it.

Azerbaijan also appeals but border currently closed ( or was last year )

It's a shame Bulgaria and Romania have been lost to shengen as those are also two countries worth a visit

I think Serbia is the one I'm dubious about over in that direction .

I hope not too dubious as we are planning to visit in May/June!
I've just heard there can be issues with the border etc and a bit of corruption but I've not been I'm just going on info I heard from folk I met in Greece a few years back.

I want to do more of Montenegro and see a bit more of Albania and I'd be curious about trying Serbia.. but time of year also important as last time I was that way Oct Nov and wet n cold

Apparently northern Iraq is visitable, certainly down as far as Erbil.
Overlanders seem to be able to make it as far as Mongolia via the 'Stans.
Road quality is far better in Asia today, so no need for 4x4's

Central Africa however is worse, back in the 1960's it was perfectly possible to drive Europe to South Africa in a normal car.
Unfortunately that journey has not been easy since the 1970's and now a days is not possible down the west side and only possible down the east side in a 4x4, and with a few major diversions.

Guess Iran would be risky?

If Trump or Trump/Putin build Resort Gaza land, maybe Gaza?

Morocco I hear is great.

And Easterhouse defo off limits

Morocco is great but you have to go with the mind set that it is different from Europe…
It’s definitely a winter destination…☀️😎

We went on an organised tour of Romania and Bulgaria last year. Romania was unbelievably beautiful and the people were very friendly. Bulgaria is huge and we found it less interesting and less pretty other than Plovdiv. We did cross into Serbia to visit Belgrade for 3 days. The borders are slow but no real problem. We were on a campsite just outside the city with an excellent bus service.

Loved Turkey and would go again. Also crossed to Cyprus.

We’re going to Iceland and the Faroe Islands this year. I think we will then have reached our limit in our van. Happy to do repeats. We will follow FCDO advice, Claire would kill us if we didn’t!

Other travels with be by air. Plenty of the world to see says she from the Panamanian rain forest.

If I'm completely honest if I was still self-employed rather than employed I'd be planning a trip to Ukraine. Obviously I'd put a bit more thought in to which areas but I'd definitely be up to visit the capital and Western Cities.

That couple arrested in Iran were warned of the danger but stupidly pressed on. Or maybe they were spies, who knows?

Turkey is off my list because of certain personal encounters, work and social.

I want to go back to Cyprus with my MH but at the moment there is no car ferry to the legitimate Cyprus and I will not go through Turkey and N. Cyprus.

Sorry those were negatives but we were asked what our limits are.

Now to positives: I was lying in bed a couple of nights ago and thought of MH to Faroes and Iceland. I would be interested in how you have arranged it and costs. Maybe it is of little interest to many people so if you feel it is better please reply by PM.

I want to visit Disneyland Gaza . . But I guess I'll be dead by the time Trump has it up & running - I hear it's got a vast underground tunnel system which should be fun
