Which campsite for December/January?

We stayed at Bonterra Park once and had a nice sunny spot but a bit chunk of the campsite seemed very dark and shady. This was November though so maybe they were very late cutting the trees. Certainly put us off going back there. Nice restaurant. Lovely promenade but surprised how few cafes there were on it.

Great for cycling. Lovely beach. Nice town.

Freezing here in France, so going to make our way to warmer climes for a few weeks. Have narrowed it down to 3 sites, never been to any of them before, which one is our best bet ?
- Bonterra at Benicassim
- Alicante Imperium at Villajoyosa
- Devesa Gardens Resort at El Saler
We don't want to go any further south, want electric hook up and hot showers, somewhere we can walk to shops/bar/restaurant and also public transport to somewhere a bit bigger and more interesting. Of the three, think El Saler is probably the favourite but open to suggestions :)
We've stayed a few times at the Vilanova Park (Barcelona area) which we really like as it provides all the above but thought this time a bit further south might be a warmer, plus somewhere new.
Recommendations/suggestions please
Many thanks
MrsS
PS MrS likes to play golf...
Hi, you could try Camping Calpe Mar, it's the best site in Calpe (IMO), short walk to town, living and aldi very close, beautiful site good clean hot showers etc, been before and going again for a month in May (covid permitting) have a look at their website, google Camping Calpe Mar, about half an hour north of Benidorm

Sat by the fire at home in Deux-Sevres, Western France. Hoping to set off next week after our booster jabs and got a couple of places to call in on the way
We're just across the border from you in 85390 [when not freezing our bits off in Scotland as we are at present!]

We are at 79390 so a bit further inland but have friends in that area. MrS used to tread the boards with a group that performed at several locations including the theatre/cinema at La Chataigneraie - his biggest claim to fame was probably when he played René in Allo Allo. Great fun and massive audiences, including quite a few French who found the language easier to follow as it was English with a French accent :giggle: although goodness knows what they made of the policeman. But I digress...

We're in Cheffois, but use la Chataigneraie for Banking, shopping and trips to the dechetterie, where there is a space reserved for me Skip 9 when I pop my clogs [Dechets Ultimes]. My 2nd cousin was the Artistic Director of The Mousetrap, and I could have been an actor. I had the ankles for it; could have worn tights, I could ... Well if you want to take advantage of Skip 9 don't be too long about it as they are tightening up the regulations and charging more and more all the time. And if they start to charge by the weight for Skip 9...o_O ::bigsmile:::bigsmile:::bigsmile:
Hope to encounter your beautiful ankles one fine day (emphasis on fine, don't want to give you pneumonia displaying them in this weather lol)

If they charge by weight, then I'm done for; you don't many of me to the 1/4lb as my granny used to say ... It is a standing joke between my wife and the Attendant, that he will help to throw me into Skip 9, as long as she can drive my mortal remains to the dechetterie, a regular mini cabaret 'entre le Francais et l'Ecossaise' about 'Le pauvre Anglais'

I can cope, because my weight results from my being thick skinned rather than fat ... :giggle:

Right we've decided. Bonterra it is. Just need to send off the booking form (assume booking advisable?)
It’s empty, we have a huge sunny pitch. WiFi 18 euros a month. It’s Spanish bank holiday this weekend and reception say they have a lot of Spanish arriving for the weekend. See you soon have a safe trip

Presumably the Spanish are just coming for a few days for the St Nicholas, so should be ok by end of next week. Won't bother with booking then and look forward to meeting you in a sunny spot . Many thanks for all your help - and everyone else too.

At Tours at the minute rained all the way from the tunnel be at Bonterra Monday hope nice a warm weather 🌞
It’s lovely 😊 very sunny, loads of empty pitches but remember it’s a Bank Holiday on Monday and Wednesday next week so get some shopping in x

Be very careful if you are using AP7 could be high winds today, it wasn’t very pleasant when we came last Thursday either. Still lots of plots available, we are on D at the top, huge sunny pitch x

Glad the weather sounds good we're due there on the 18th, really looking forward to it. By quiet do you mean not many british or not many of anyone? Is it less than 50% full?

Thanks. alternating between raining or cold here, usually both

Less than 50% even with the Spanish here for Bank Holiday weekend. Good choice of pitches though x

To all that use Imperium, do you use a code as it seems expensive to me for January ie 28 nights 530 euro !!!!! ???
I understand Bonterra is even more expensive but in our case, Imperium has €169 "behind the bar" as a result of having to cancel last year for some inexplicable reason???

Janie just had 6 days Vancation while I was in hospital, she loved it and said we will have to go back, and to be honest she is less of a benidorm person than me. 😁

If you don't have acsi it's still 18 euros but charge electric. 😁 Bob.
