Hi. I just got an email from the C&CC saying that site bookings were opening on 6th December for 2018. The only site I know of (I'm very new to this) that sells out is the Rowntree one at York. Presumably because it is so handy for the city centre.

I just wondered which other sites regularly sell out? Presumably some Lake district and London ones are up there?

Thanks

Yep rowntree is c&mc not c&cc .and the reason it sells out is due to the selfish block booking persons who cancel if the weather is not perfect for them

Is Bristol one still open? Heard it was closing down, that one is always fully booked .
Rallies are like that as well, exmouth rally is always booked soon as it’s open for bookings ?

I wish they'd start taking deposits like the c&cc do - there doesn't seem to be as much as a problem with sites booking up.

Southport, Chester Fairoaks, Edinburgh, Garlieston to name a few I have had trouble booking.

Chertsey does quite often.

Quick hijack ,which is better cmc or ccc ,for future membership thanks .

There's no quick answer though - lots of opinions & quite a few threads if you have a search:LOL:. For me, personally, the c&cc are better suited to what I want.:)

Friends of ours that have worked for the caravan club for years, told us take no notice of the web site saying full because they have to save pitches for passing traffic, phoned for Roundtree Park and got in, while we were there a couple of foreign campers turned up and got in, still said full on their site.

but that's C&CC
others mentioned so far are C&MHC or whatever it's called, which is what the OP would appear to have meant.

Yes, on a three month rolling lease.
Good site, central to the city, rather like York but half as many pitches.

That’s what the thread asked.

Call me old fashioned but you can only answer the question asked

Grrrrrrr

WHY?!

Why, in this day and age, are people still allowed to do this?!!

Indeed. I added the comment for the benefit of the OP, as the purpose of the thread and responses evoked were rather ambiguous.

Just for the record, I'm a member of both this year so I'd really like to know which are considered the cherry picking best sites for either.

I am well aware of the controversial nature of pre-booking. We haven't had any on this thread yet but there are plenty of others with members here complaining because they lost their deposits for what they thought were reasonable reasons for not turning up.

Any other tricky to get into sites??

Tried to book the Ferry Meadows CMC site for tonight and tomorrow their website shows full for every Friday, Sat and Sun for foreseeable future, absolute crap.

Might be worth ringing them direct in case they have had cancellations, not on the system yet ...

I find it easier to get into C&CC sites than C&MHC ones, possibly due to the need for members to part with a deposit when they book, but the days of being able to just turn up are over unless mid-week and out of season. The most popular C&MHC sites get booked up very quickly on "frenzy day" in December when they are released for the following year, whereas it's a much more leisurely pace with the C&CC.

It's a big site, so I'm a little surprised if it's full unless there's an event on locally.
As said, call the site. There is almost bound to be a cancellation and it's a warden's decision on who might get it.

I did several bookings including Rowntree Park in December a couple of years ago for the following September when I learnt how difficult it was to get in to that particular one. Agree it's a pain when there is no deposit to deter the cherry pickers, apart form the stern letter if you don't turn up, but that's the system and you either go with the flow or miss out. As to choice of clubs we too are members of both but use the C&MHC as they have the sites where we want to be.

So did you expect them to keep a pitch especially for you just in case you wanted to turn up?

Rowntree Park does book up early but they do get lots of cancellations withing the 3 day limit so you can often get in at short notice. Always worth a call in advance rather than booking on line.

I know Chester fairoaks is starting to get really popular because of the shopping also Castleton

C & MC need to get a grip and learn from the C & CC charge a deposit you will keep more members instead of advertising the damn booking for 2018 day when all the no shows block book spoiling it for others.
