Which batteries should I buy?

Having spoken to an independent Auto Electrical Engineer and supplier of alternators and batteries at the weekend, they favoured the Yuasa brand, as they rarely have a problem with them, and give good service.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

My experience of Numax was simply appalling, but I'm pleased you may have found them better.

What a shame - I've had 3+ years with my two- although I am very careful to not let them drop below 12.3 volts - ever.

They boast about being on the NCC approved list, that would put me right off them and claiming a 1000 cycles from a flooded cell battery sounds like cloud cuckoo land.

They may not be a bad battery but those two claims puts me off them.

I know - NCC is not a great recomendation. I was impreesed to find them made in the UK by an old company.
Although mine have been faultless I did wonder about the quoted duty cycles, but there are saying they are new tubular plate technology - what ever that means. For that price I would like them to be twice as good as their standard ones.

The final battery in Numax’s all new leisure range is the XDT30MF which is a class A rating, consisting of 115Ah it is the perfect battery for more difficult environmental conditions. The 30MF also brags its ability to achieve over 1,000 cycles; it also carries tubular plate technology making it more robust. Finally the XDT30MF has both an enhanced life expectancy and enhanced performance in order to gain a lower depth of discharge, making it an extremely high quality, reliable battery.

Unless you have severe access problems for maintenance then 6v wet lead acid true deep cycle like Trojans, Weight being a good indicator we have Trojan T145’s fitted each 6v unit weighing 33kg (66kg for 12v)
Gel or AGM compromised technology trying to achieve what wet lead acid does they also require lower charge voltages (14.4 v 14.8) using less of any available solar output or longer EHU charging time giving less power for equivalent space. With no access to the electrolyte you have no idea of their overall ‘health’
