As title we are off to chorley for grandsons birthday, then heading to Moffat for sisters 70th celebration, have a couple or 3 days to do between then. Head is not working well 🤣
Quite fancy the Crawick multiverse but would have to come back on ourselves
Suggestions please, preferably sensible but don't mind a few laughs.

You could do a brief couple of days into D&G with Crawick & Sanquhar village the last day, then it's only about an hour's drive to Moffat
Or Carlisle up to Hawick, across to Sanquhar via Peebles & Biggar (lovely drive), down to Moffat, some nice little free stopovers

Or there's a nice site with good walks at Ecclefechan, worth going just for the name!

Bridge House Marina, Garstang. Only about 40 mins north of Chorley. Just been and had a great time. No cooking Sue as there is a bistro/wine bar on site. Another plus is the leccy is metered and cost me about £2.50 per night earlier this month

What dates are you in Moffat, I can let you know of any worthwhile events in D&G. If it’s June then a lot of towns and villages will be having their galas, certainly worth visiting if not seen before

In Moffat 20th-23rd june with sister from 21st. Leave chorley on the 16th so have from then till 20th to fill in.
Like Cal54 idea, long time since i have been to Garstang to stay, but we bought the van from near there, would be interesting for a night or so, have friends nearby who we could visit, so long as they are not away in their motorhome.
all this because sis doesn't want to celebrate on her birthday in July, had a nice little route planned, ah well as Rabbie would say, the best laid plans.

Dumfries Guid Nychburris is Saturday the 15th of June, really is a good day out if not seen before. The rideouts start at 6am followed by the crowing of the Queen around 11, there is various events throughout the day before the main parade about 6 pm.

Home-made pies and pasties. Dog friendly.

Campervans can stay if people eat a main course.

Mountains not molehills review:

When it comes to food, the Parkers Arms is perhaps most famous for its pies. They’ve been featured on TV, in the Hairy Bikers Go North, and the curried mutton pie with mutton fat pastry won a gold award at the British Pie Awards 2023. As well as a meat option with rich gravy, vegetarian pies might include the likes of a deeply comforting layered creamed potato and Lancashire cheese pie in all-butter rough puff pastry, with accompaniments such as creamy mash, crisp golden fries, and seasonal vegetables.

But there’s so much more than pies. An ever-changing three-course seasonal menu always features a flawless selection of modern British dishes using the finest regional produce, whether it’s Bowland outdoor-reared pork, Burholme Farm lamb, Meanley Estate venison, 60-day Bowland beef fillet, wild game, or Morecambe Bay fish served charcoal-grilled. Sides come as standard, so there’s no need to order extras, while puddings might feature Basque-style cheesecake with seasonal fruit, or a selection of regional cheeses.

And it’s not all about the food. This country pub also serves local cask ales, draught lagers, and an affordable wine list, as well as a series of exceptional bar snacks; think addictively salty crisp potato skins, or hearty black pudding sausage rolls with rich buttery pastry.

Jay Rayner also loved it.

If you like cheese, this is worth a stop.

Mrs Kirkham's Lancashire Cheese Farm Shop
Mill Lane, Goosnargh

Notes
Our little Farm Shop was created in April 2020, when like many others covid 19 affected our business quite dramatically when the hospitality industry was closed down so we set about turning our packing room in to the shop we have today.

The aim of the shop was to support and sell products from small producers.
We first and foremost have a great cheese counter brimming with our award winning Lancashire's and a great selection of guest cheeses from fellow artisan producers from around the country.

We also stock:
Sillfield Farm Bacon & Sausage
Swallow Barn Olives
Rosy Goat Ice cream
Lovingly Artisan Sourdoughs (delivered fresh every Friday)
Tim Slater Pies (delivered fresh every Thursday Morning)
William's Handbaked Wild & Fruitful Chutney & Preserves
Charcuterie
Northern Pasta Co
Fresh Fish on Fridays from the Seafood Shack (from 9am til 1pm)

We are big cheese lovers so Mrs Kirkhams is a possibility, but we prefer another make of Lancashire creamy, will probably stock up at Pat's cheese stall on chorley market'

Will need to miss this as that is when we are celebrating grandsons birthday. Will pencil it in for next year.
