We've removed the oven from our 2019 adria and now require a blanking cap for the Truma manifold ,pictured .👇
id presumed this would be easy to buy but it seems the only way to get this blank is to buy the entire manifold and take off the blanking olive and screw on thingy .

has anyone had any luck purchasing something suitable ,ideally with a link .
(Note pipe work missing was sold with the oven )

I see that. I remain re-educated. I cannot understand what unexpected circumstances could be but able accept you are way more informed than I am,
Quite easy to see how this could easily result in gas leak , say van goes in for some work or is sold due to unforeseen circumstances, then new owner or at a dealership, apprentice or even the fitter in a rush turns off all the gas appliances at the manifold, does his work but then turns all back on without checking for open ends.
Then proceeds to light the hob to purge through before doing a gas test.
We get them here in our workshop and are told by owners that it wasnt them that disconnected the appliance ⚠️

Ok. If I bought a used van I could understand that. But if I knew about it (as per op ) I would not worry about it as I would not turn that valve open. Belt and braces I understand.

Have you still got the original pipe that went into the fitting? If so, cut a short piece off and flatten the end that isn't going into the fitting and then solder it to seal. Use the original nut and olive to blank off the fitting.
Unfortunately not,i stupidly sold it with the oven 😫

Neither the nut or the blanks are standard.
GOK & what was branded as Truma require the correct type .
Is it likely gok and Truma use the same sizes ?
,I have only searched for Truma parts

twoeyedbob am I right in thinking that the nut hex is about 16.75mm across the flats and the internal diameter of the thread is about 12.5mm? Yes I know those are strange measurements but that's what I have just measured on some fittings that I took of a similar manifold a while ago.

If they are correct I have some nuts and one blanking plug for the same so drop me a PM and I'll see you right.

As already mentioned by our resident gas expert, it needs the correct nut and plug. 2 sizes are common in motorhomes and caravans, 8mm and 10mm

As I recall, gok and truma are the same parts

Thanks v much for all replies so far ,I realise that it should be safe with valve closed ,but my wife is already convinced she can smell gas( she can’t ) but until I fit something I can’t see me staying in the van with gas turned on .

the problem is she may be able to smell the additive they put in the gas from the inside of the tap. If I drag my box of plumbing bits out from under the bench in my workshop, on opening the box it smells of gas from a few used fittings. Not used them in over a year and they retain the stink

Easy 👍
17 mm nut = 8mm pipe
19mm nut = 10mm pipe
The one that I have offered is off a three way manifold and as I said is about 16.75mm cross the flats and takes 8mm pipe. I have the solid brass blanking plug to match the nut.
These actually came off a new manifold that I had to purchase when the original had a tap fall apart!!! Obviously all the nuts etc. were already available from the old one.

I think you will find the general feeling is its not safe as is and any comment to border on it being safe are just being polite it is far from safe

From that photo it looks like the item that I have will solve your problem.

The brass piece is the plug that fits within the nut to blank off the outlet from the manifold.

If you want it drop me £2.50 for the postage by PayPal to rod@vwbooks.co.uk and I will put it in the post First Class tomorrow. You can mail me at the same address with your postal address.

In domestic and commercial gas to leave this situation is totally illegal, and totally unsafe, and displays incompetence. As said Classified as immediately Dangerous. The purpose of gas isolation valves are for convenience for an engineer too work on an appliance.
Scenario if say someone put shoes in the cupboard and hit the valve handle even slightly open or the valve itself was passing. 💥 Try a 10mm brass cap.

Did you sort this Bob? I'm about to do the same -removing the fridge. 8mm pipe, 17mm nut. Cheers

Yes - I know, I've measured them - I'm after a blanking plug or cap for the manifold so I can completely remove the fridge feed and blank it off.
Basildog I quoted runs Autogas he does post

Just to clarify for those interested, it is illegal for a Gas Engineer to leave any open ends (valves or otherwise). I would think this is related to safety issues. I always cringed when I saw an open ended gas fitting as the potential disasters this could cause don’t bear thinking about. Particularly with LPG.
Get the fitting as suggested and sleep easy.😀

Basildog will be able to advise the application (or not!) of the Regulations to a leisure vehicle but for information page 27/28 covers it.

In theory it would be fine but being left uncapped would leave anyone open to say not haveing an insurance payout through fire
It would not pass any safety check
Always best to blank off an open end but temporarily if you remove the valve handle it cannot even be accidentally turned on as requires to be depressed to turn.

Thanks - I just can't identify the exact part I need :(
If you are looking for a blanking nut/plug for normal a 8mm fitting my guess it would be this (circled) you are looking for...

If you already have the nut that normally fits onto 8mm pipe fittings then the item below will fit inside that and do the job that you require.

Brilliant thanks Rod... I do have the nut. Appreciate your help (on what, on the face of it, is blindingly obvious!) :)
