Where do you keep spare keys

I have heard that if your van is stolen the insurance company will want to see both sets of keys.
Difficult when your keys have been stolen to steal your van (in my case it was a car)

Dont say that to a plant operator!!
You will be surprised at the places we think of looking where we think the driver before has hidden the keys, might have lost my touch now, I have been out of the plant game a few years, now I KNOW where all the keys are for the machines👍👍😁😁

The main difference is that I know where they are and it will still take me a good half an hour or more to lay my hands on them, that's providing I don't forget where they are as I did before. :ROFLMAO:

When I lived full time I had one set (loose) which I used and one set on a chain and clipped to a belt loop on my trousers. Never used the chained set, but the theory was it was always on my person if I locked the loose set inside (I did that twice - slam lock doors 🙄) or if I lost them (never did that).

I hung the chained set over the door handle so I couldn't leave without seeing / feeling them if I was in bed or PJs etc.

Last van was: got extra door and ignition key cut, door key fastened to inside edge of chassis with cable tie, this opens the garage Spare ign key screwed in the garage where can't be seen when the door is opened.

Can't tell about current van.

I have one set with me and the wife has the other set. I wouldn't leave a set in your van because if its stolen you won't have 2 sets of keys to show to your insurer.
Could be an expensive set.
Out of all the vehicles ive owned i must have had over a hundred that only ever had one key or set of keys for. And I've also still got odd keys lying about i had cut for vehicles that i forgot to give to the new owner.

Not sure its a requirement on insurance to produce keys you never had.

As others have said, my wife has a set of keys and I have a spare set.

Set of keys each and a hab key hidden but accessible from outside as once locked both sets in the van.

Set of keys each and a hab key on toad key ring. 3 or ? separate key rings

You actually can’t get in my van with a key, it’s got a number pad entry system (y)

After unlocking one of the cab doors and the key twisting and almost breaking in the other, when I go away, I carry the spare (very worn but there are no electronics to worry about) and a set of keys for the other bits (Gas water loo) always hang beside the hab door - for which I have no spare key incidentally but have never thought about it.

I have a bolt for the hab door which would need a hammer and chisel to open it but they can get in the cab doors if they know what they're doing and like any vehicle, if they want in, they'll get in.

Why not hide in plain sight?

In the 1990s, I had a Morris 1300 with the ignition in the centre of the dash and no steering lock - for the uninitiated, it was like this:

The car was left parked with a laptop, nike trainers and some other expensive sports stuff in the boot outside flats in a dodgy area of Dublin 8, near James's Street. They got in easily, then pulled the indicator and main/dipped beam electrics apart looking to try and start the car, which didn't happen obviously.

I didn't notice a thing until about 10 minutes into my drive home when people were flashing me for driving on sidelights only, and then I realised I couldn't use the indicators. All the stuff in the boot was fine - they must never have seen a car like that before!

New steering column electrics - which came from a scrapyard and cost a couple of quid - really wish I had that car today!
