Do I park my 7m motorhome in coach parking or lorry parking at motorway services?

We stopped at one near Marseille and got robbed and lost money, passports and ipads. French police advised us never to stay overnight on motorway aires. Have also read about lots of others being robbed too.
jesus..were you in there too?

I know what you are saying and am not trying to poo poo it, but there are many many thousands who dont get robbed, just as many many thousands dont get burgled at home.
Its a risk we take unfortunately, but sorry to hear about your plight of course.

now road laybys, THATS another story

I agree. They must have been very slick at what they do as my wife is a very light sleeper and heard nothing. We only noticed the next morning when I found the drivers door slightly open. The police were very thorough but said it was very common particularly around the Marseille area. It's only the second time in 45 years so I suppose not so bad just very inconvenient as had to get emergency travel documents from the embassy in Paris etc.

Been parking in European motorway services since 1988. We park where we can find a space, only been robbed once, left the habitation door adjar. Far too much hassle pulling off and finding a campsite to accommodate us.

I use lorry parking as mine is classed as private Heavy Goods Vehicle being 4200 kgs.
Also that for caravans as it is also a Motor caravan, they will struggle to say I am in the wrong area.:LOL::LOL:
I bet the truckers love you when space is at a premium.
Do you eat Yorkie bars and Hedgehog sandwiches as well
:LOL::LOL:

Not quite as long at 6.2 mtr but last time we were in Weatherby services a man in a shiny jacket pointed to a space in the caravan parking. He also advised us it was a two hour maximum stay.
As others have said the caravan park here and abroad tends to be away from the services so we just use the services for somewhere to stop for a break.
On the continent we would prefer the pull offs between services unless we need fuel.
