Hello folks

My mobility is not so clever so I have an electric wheelchair to help me get about but I do not need it to move about. It folds up to the size of a large suitcase and weights 29 kilo. SWMBO and myself find it difficult to get the lump into the garage in our motorhome and have to rely on able-bodied friends to either lift it in or out.
Have any funsters had a hoist fitted into the garage to help with loading or unloading? We have a Hymer B778 PL which has a fare sized garage.

Thanks in advance.

A friend of mine (sadly no longer with us) had a hoist that his son fitted into his Vauxhall Estate (it seems there is all the connections behind one of the panels) to lift his mobility scooter in & out.
I think he got it from a company called TGA? 🤔

Just googled ' mobility scooter hoist ' and a number are available. 👍

That is more of an exterior option.

Hi Verteuil Man, used to load our class 3 mobility scooter via ramps into MH garage. Just had to invest in folding aluminium ramps (1.2m long folded) due to higher boot level of new vehicle. These are really light and easy to handle

Would something like this work for you?, my dad had it brand new, installed in his car, sadly no longer needed View attachment 881706
Yes I think that is the sort of thing but I am not sure how it would fix/anchor into my garage. A car has lots of steal bits to fasten to.

Hi
Sorry to jump in on your thread.
What's the make of your chair please, I didn't know they had folding ones, it looks a great bit of kit,one of these could be suitable for my wife

We've got one of these as a backup. Works well.

Looks like you have plenty of room for a couple of lightweight folding ramps.
I agree ..... We have a pair of these (but I suggest don't pay that EXAMPLE pricing as too expensive for me) :-

We picked them up from Gumtree @ £20 (have seen similar fairly often) and use them for a multitude of jobs, including both of our Heavyweight "Davros style" Powerchairs (over 120 Kg each) AND my XS650 & my lad's XV750 AND more into and out of our Doblo and my lad's Polar Caravan. and also around the home & shed-steps/etc.

HIGHLY recommended and take up next to no space when in short-mode and weigh very little.

This is where I got mine from. Very helpful, quick delivery and good after sales service.

I have just emptied the garage after returning from Spain so it looks like there is a lot of room. To run the chair in on ramps means having a space as big as the chair to go into, then fold the chair up. Then put the ramps in. I have asked the suppliers if I can run the chair when it is folded using the remote (carers) control. This could be an option but space is at a premium.

Shorter folding ramps are cheaper but in our case, to reach a height of 750mm (Skoda Kodiaq) the 2.2 o/a length we’re required, £120 off supplier on eBay. Still good value IMHO.

I use a small ramp for a power wheelchair on one side of the garage and my wife lifts in my manual wheelchair (6kg) into the other.
