Whats all this i phone stuff about ?

I would be delighted to hear some examples. We have had this thread before and so far I am yet to be told about anything useful for business or leisure to be honest. Im not deliberately trying to nock it but I have had a mobile for over 20 years and internet and email for nearly as long. I work in IT so it has no novelty value for me whatsoever. Its a job. Im not easily impressed. The last bit of technology that really impressed me many years ago and I couldnt live without is the Sat Nav (please dont tell me about an iphone GPS program as thats what a TomTom is for) but there is only so much useful stuff you can do on a phone.

For me there a number of apps thAt I use regularly

Yellow pages very handy
I dabble on the money markets and have a couple of apps that keep me updated on currency and shares
I travel into London a greT deal and use the London underground map and national rail app for train journey planning
As a management consultant i use one of the billable hours apps
My wife has an iPhone and we both have a translator for the odd words that she doesn't understand and vice versa so use for trnslation English-Chinese-English
She also keeps in touch with her family in china using the msn Instant messenger app
For the mh I have the LPG locator, RV companion to keep tabs on service intervals and jobs that need doing on it
I have the mpg app and record All my fuel costs for all 3 vehicles giving me an idea of mpg and fuel expenses
Also use conversion app
Highways agency apps for traffic updates and motorway camera snapshots
The downloadable city maps were very helpful for hong kong, Beijing and zhuhai earlier this year and would download again for any other travel destination

I don't use the iPhone sat nav as I have a tom-tom for the car and a snooper Ventura s7000 for the mh

I use the iPhone for this fabulous site

These are a few I use there are others

I like the email facility for my 3 email accounts and openin attachments is far better than my blackberry as they are clear on the iPhone and blurred on the BB

No phone in my opinion is perfect i accept that the battery life is rubbish but i have an external battery back up that can give me another 70% if necessary and of course in car charger.

I have one but am not all that impressed

As a phone it isn't great as it is rather large and the wrong shape to use comfortably.
The camera is pretty bad.
The battery life is the worst of any phone I've come across, needs charging daily.

If you want all the gadgets it's fine but as a phone there are many better, far cheaper.

Whats the last thing an iPhone owner thinks about as they lay on their Death Bed....?

Thier iPhone ....... !

I would hang on for a bit as Apple have realised the iphone 4 is crap and are very quicklly going to release the iphone 5! They have gone for the retro look with this one. Vodafone are doing a deal that includes a pair of red braces and red rimmed glasses and an old knackered Porsche 911.

Thanks for that Barry ,it reminds me of when I left school in 85 ' one of the few jobs I managed to secure my self was selling mobile phones just like that-I rang a guy in a big posh office asking him for an appointment to show off the phone- I secured an appointment and showed him the phone complete with brief case zize battery he looked at it and a man of particular long term buissnes sense said in true dragons den fashion "son go get yaself a real job,,these things will never take off in a million years,,your wasting your time" I looked at him and left the job There and then- showed how much
He knew...

My first phone in 1984 was a Panasonic of the suit case variety, it made and received phone calls at great exspence, I was younger and stronger then, don't think I could pick it up now:Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1:

I do hope these I phones are all they are cracked up to be, we are just coming to the end of our contract, we have at the moment half a dozen black berry curves and about the same sim cards for the old nokias, the black berrys are two years old and have been problems from day one, great while they work but only too often they don't , if you are in the middle of an important call and it decides to freeze not only is your call terminated but its three mins after taking the battery out and replacing it before it is usable again, not very professional. Glad to see the back of them.

We will be the proud owners of I phones next week I got a good deal as I managed to get the phones FOC which every one told me was impossible, it aint, I still like the old Nokias because they are so simple.

If they play up I will have half a dozen I phone 4 for sale I will not be keeping phones that don't work again.

Cheers Rick.
